The Exhibition
consisted of 41 pieces
of art by youth aged
14—19. A variety of
works were submitted;
from self portraits to 3D
sculptures of migrating
birds...we had it all! We
would like to thank our
wonderful artists; for

made the event
possible and also the
panel of professional
artists; Sam Allen and

their time to provide
feedback. We hope to
see this event
continue to run in the
future.

The recent success of the
Human Powered Vehicle
Race has left the City of
Busselton awestruck. The
inaugural Pedal Prix event
attracted 7 local teams as
well as competitors from
all over the country with
teams flying interstate to
get a piece of Busselton’s
picturesque track. Pre race
day, Saturday August 16,
saw teams submitting
their vehicles for
scrutineering; a series of
test and regulations about
road worthiness at the
Busselton YAC
Busselton Youth and
Community Centre.
This day proved testing
for many teams,
including the Busselton
YAC who’s vehicle
required many last
minute modifications to
become roadworthy.
The difficulty
experienced in the day
was soon forgotten
with the night lighting
up and attracting all
competing teams to
enjoy a BBQ and some
pre event information
from the Gurus of HPV.
At 10am on August 17
the race began, with
speeds exceeding
55kms the teams raced
around the track for 6
hours. The Fire
Breathing Rubber
Duckies were eventually
named victorious. The
event was outstanding
and is definitely on the
agenda for the
Busselton YAC and
secondary schools
heading into the future.

The 2014 YAC Camp was
an awesome way to start
the year for participating
youth from the City of
Busselton, Margaret River
and Nannup. Jumping off
the end of the jetty,
climbing walls, camping,
pizza and road trips all
combined to create an
epic 3 day adventure
throughout the
Southwest.
YAC Camp also
represents an
opportunity for youth to
Page 7
express their thoughts
and opinions on matters
that press the 12—25
year olds of today in a
proactive way. Organising
future events, activities
and initiatives for the
youth of the region to
participate in.
For the upcoming YAC
Camp, set to take off on
January 12 2015, we will
be trekking it out of the
Southwest and up to
Perth. Participants will be
stopping in at
Honeymoon Pool and
Adventure World, as
well as learning to sail
and helping out the
Salvation Army with
some volunteer time.
This is shaping up to be
another amazing YAC
Camp with plenty of fun
to be had! Spaces are
