materialstofillaroomorwardrobe.Through

achieveasimpletaskareonewaytodescribeRube’s
designs.Rubeonlydesignedtheoverlycomplicated
contraptions.Yourteamwilldesignandbuilda
contraptionusingthedesignprocess,science,
engineering,technologyandmath,aswellas
randomhouseholdobjects–andducttape,lotsof
ducttape.
Robotics

Teamsarechallengedtocreateanenvironmentallyfriendlypeoplemover.Thisvehiclemustbeabletotravel
at least 4 feet across the table and must overcome at least one obstacle. As an added challenge, design and
constructarobotthatperformsataskthatmakestheworldhealthier,cleaner,orsafer.Incorporatetherobot
intothedesignofthepeoplemover.
ResearchOutpostDesignChallenge
Teamswilldesignandbuildaresearchoutpostthatincludesarockettotransportresearchersandawayto
generate energy to support the work site and living quarters as wellasa rover to travel about the research
area.Asanaddedchallenge,programBB8tonavigateabouttheoutpost.
AmusementParkChallenge
Teams will design and build an amusement park that includes rides, symbolic landmarks, a bridge, and a
towerwitharevolvingrestaurant.Thedesignoftheparkshouldhaveaconsistentthemecarriedthroughout
thedesign,ridesandstructures.
Mini-GolfCourseChallenge(ages13&14only)
Asateam,design&constructan18-holeminigolfcoursearoundaselectedtheme.Inthedesign,includea
bridge that spans twelve inches and incorporates a motor. As an added challenge, program Sphero to
successfullynavigatethegolfcourse.
