ALBEROBELLO AND LOCOROTONDO
The day will stat with the visit of Alberobello which is a town in Apulia famous for its Trulli (typical houses of this area). It stretches
over the Murge highlands with steep slopes to the north-east and south-west. The landscape is the result of underground and surface
erosion of calcareous rock due to heavy rainfall over the centuries. This shaly rock is used to build the houses that characterize
this Italian area
The landscape is one of the most picturesque in Italy, as the self-sown vegetation blends well with the typical cultivation such as olive
and almond groves and vineyards. The oldest part of the town (Rione Monti) stretches over the large hill and, from 1909 is considered
a national monument.
We then procede with the visit of Locorotondo – and lunch - - from the Latin locus rotundus, the medieval name to indicate the
roundness of the hill where it would then built the country. Circular in shape and gathered around the Mother Church, the historic
center of Locorotondo shows a particular charm, thanks to the use of white lime that surrounds every old building and small street
of the town of Locorotondo. Worthy of note are the Church of Our Lady of Greek, which became a national monument, and the
Mother Church. Locorotondo is recognized as one of "The Most Beautiful Villages of Italy".

ALTAMURA AND MATERA
Altamura is a lovely small town famous all around Italy and Europe for the special bread they produce
This bread is the first and only bread in Europe that is protected; all the ingredients (water, flower etc.) must come from Altamura. The bread has a
hard crust but a soft centre and is made from a rough type of grain. Guests during the visit will surely want to taste this speciality
We them accompany guests to Matera - in the Sassi caves is concealed the capital of the peasants, its heart hidden in their ancient civilization.
This is the most outstanding, intact example of a troglodyte settlement in the Mediterranean region, perfectly adapted to its terrain and ecosystem.
The unusual structure of Matera is the result of two contrasting phenomena: the great poverty of the local population and the determination of the
people to settle in one place. The first urban settlement took place in “Colle della Civita” (the hill of the city), where the first inhabited centre was set
up. The traits of this city were agricultural and pastoral.
In the year 1000 the Normans came to Matera giving the city a different city setting. The Civita (city) was fortified and the first farmhouse settlements
came to be. Later on this order will give birth to the districts of “Sasso Barisano” and “Sasso Caveoso”. Moreover Matera offers a cuisine based on
fabulous dishes which the guests should not miss... therfore we stop here for lunch before returning to the hotel

meet: the old town, surrounded by an imposing wall and crossed with narrow streets that lead to the discovery of its rich heritage;

LECCE
Lecce is a city of great charm which arouses surprise and admiration for the nobility of its buildings and the undeniable beauty of its churches. It can
certainly be considered as one of the historical capitals of Baroque art here assumed a very original , exuberant architectural works, through the
intelligent use that architects and masons were able to make valuable local stone so easy to cut and shape .
The practical flair and conceptual creativity of Lecce’s master sculptors found an application thanks to the use of pietra leccese, also known as poor
man’s marble, which is a tuffaceous stone, particularly soft and easy to work but which hardens over time.
Lecce has such an enormous architectural and artistic heritage that the city was also called the “Florence of the South” or “Pearl of the Salento”.
But exploring a country also means discovering the cuisine , for this reason we suggest to have lunch in a local traditional restaurant, in the historic
center of the city
