APRIL 2017
Dear Parents,
As we celebrate this Easter Season, we are reminded of Christ’s resurrection marking a new beginning for us. Jesus took the sins of all people upon himself, that through His death all might live. Easter calls us
to be renewed in our faith. It gives us meaning for life and a purpose
for our existence as Christian people. Through our parish, our school
and our daily interactions, we are called to spread the wonderful message of Christ. Let us rejoice in the signs of new life and thank God
for His many gifts and celebrate God’s love for us!
Sincerely in Christ,

Parent Support Group (PSG)
Parents are invited to attend the PSG meeting to be held on Thursday, April
28th at 6:00 p.m. in the Grade 6B classroom in the West Wing. The purpose of this meeting is to establish the PSG executive committee for the upcoming 2017/2018 school year. The role of the St. Helen’s PSG is to apply for
Direct Access Funding from the Ministry of Public Safety and Solicitor General, and to use the funds specifically for the purpose of enhancing the extracurricular opportunities of a variety of activities for students. All parents
with children in the school are eligible to vote and to be elected to the executive committee.
An Easter Prayer
St. Helens Food Bank
The St. Helen's Food Bank volunteers are asking for your
support to assist 33 families during this Easter Season.
Once again, we are asking you and the students of St
Helen's School to help us with the most needed items:
Pasta, sauces, juices, canned meat, fish, ham, canned
fruit, canned soups and cereals, etc. We believe this
will be one way to show compassion and sympathy for others who are having misfortune. We know that one item or
more for each student will be more than appreciated to
let us go through this season.

Grade 7 Retreat
God our Father, by raising
Christ your Son You conquered the power of death
and opened for us the way to
eternal life. Let our Easter celebrations raise us up and renew our lives By the Spirit
that is within us. Grant this
through our Lord Jesus
Christ, your Son Who lives
and reigns with You and the
Holy Spirit One God, forever
and ever.
Amen.

School Updates:
Curricular Updates:
Thank you to all our families for registering to St.
Helen’s School. Communication is vital in our
community as we work together for the good of
our students. Our registration package outlines the
philosophy behind the Parent/Guardian Statement
of Commitment:
“Motivated by a Christ-centered vision of humanity and human history, our school promotes the
formation of the whole person. Such formation
embraces not only intellectual, but also physical,
emotional, moral and spiritual dimensions of human growth. Intellect, emotions, creative ability
and cultural heritage have a place in the life of the
school. Human knowledge and skills are recognized as precious in themselves, but find their
deepest meaning in God’s plan for creation.”
Partners (home, school, parish) in Catholic Education must work together to provide an environment where faith and learning go hand in hand
leading the young people to be the best they can
be.

Summer Uniform—Students are now permitted to
wear the summer uniform. Please ensure that all
uniform pieces are in good condition. Skirts/skorts
should be a modest length and shoes should be all
black—no logos or stripes.
Morning Tardiness—I have noticed an increase in
the number of students arriving after 8:55 in the
morning. Please bring your children to school on
time so that we may begin the day with everyone
on time for opening exercises and class prayer.
