Medlar-with-Wesham CE Primary School Newsletter Friday 07.11.14 01772 682836 www.weshamcofe.lancs.sch.uk Our Mission Statement We are a welcoming, caring and unique Christian family, aiming to provide an outstanding education in a safe environment, where everyone is valued for being special. More than I am Congratulations to the Stars of the Week: Isabelle Laird, Blake McKenzie, Robert Bugins, Mihails Malcevs, Ravis Skamanis, Kia Clark, Airon McKenzie Turner and Kieran Gardner Well done everyone! Head Girl & Head Boy Report Welcome back everyone. We hope you have had a great holiday. This week we have been looking at the reasons why we celebrate Remembrance Day. Also on Thursday we looked at all the soldiers that have died in the wars and the reasons that we need to remember their sacrifices. Hope you will have a great weekend. :) Ollie and Emily :) Friendship Week - Next week we will be celebrating Friendship Week in school. This coincides with the ‘National Anti-Bullying Month’ of November. We will be focusing in class on what to do when we break friends and how to make up. We will also be discussing when we might need to tell someone we need help to sort out problems with our peers. On Monday the School Council will start off our Friendship week with Worship all about friendship and will be announcing their competition. This will be to design a Friendship Super Hero, who demonstrates the qualities and values of a good friend. It would be good if you could discuss this at home with your child to reinforce what we are doing in school. PTA Monsters & Aliens Disco – A big thanks to the PTA for organising such a fantastic Monsters & Aliens Disco last night. Well done to all the children who came dressed as scary monsters and aliens. Thank you to all parents who brought the children and picked them up promptly. Thanks also to Mr Clements, Miss Groves and Mrs Taylor who stayed to join in the fun with the discos. School Photographs-Please return your photograph orders to school no later than Monday 17th November. This will ensure you receive your order before Christmas. Bonfire Lunch - The themed bonfire lunch was excellent – a big thanks to Mrs Ince and Mrs Consterdine who served 94 lunches yesterday. It was really tasty and we loved the toffee apples. Remembrance Worship in Church – On Wednesday 12th November 9.00 am, we will be observing 2 minutes silence during worship in church. Please do come along to support the memory of those who died in the wars that have involved our brave soldiers. The Head Girl and Boy will be selling poppies and other small items in aid of the British Legion next week, they range from reflective clips, rulers, bracelets – all £1, to pencils, rubbers, poppy tattoos – all 50p. Children in Need Day – Friday 14th November. It’s a Super Hero dress up day to support the Children in Need charity. Please can your child bring 50p next Friday and dress up as a Super Hero. Last year Mrs Clayton made lots and lots of Pudsey Bear biscuits to sell in aid of this charity and they were exceptionally popular (in fact we, very cheekily, kept asking her to make more as we sold out so many times) – she has very kindly offered to do this again. Pudsey Bear biscuits will be on sale from Monday for 50p if your child would like to buy one. They will be on sale next week. CHRISTMAS SHOEBOX APPEAL – Thank you Year 3 for your Worship on Wednesday showing us the joy on the faces of the children who receive the Christmas presents in the shoe boxes. It was very moving. Completed boxes can be sent into school during the week of Monday 17th November 2014 ready for collection by Friday 21st November 2014. We do hope you can support this worthy cause.
