General Leadership Scholarship Application Guidelines
Application Deadline: April 1, 2017
The Hank Sasser Foundation awards a yearly general leadership scholarship to individuals who
desire to develop their individual and organizational leadership skills. Scholarship awards will be
applied to the recipient’s continuing education. This includes, but is not limited to, graduate or
undergraduate studies, technical school, educational conferences, or other professional
development opportunities.
Scholarship award amounts will vary based on the number of awards given each year. The
deadline to apply is April 1st of the current calendar year. Scholarship money will be awarded by
June 1st of the current calendar year. Scholarship recipients will be notified by mail no later than
June 1st, and the recipients’ names will be announced on the foundation website.
Applicants must submit the following items:
1. Completed scholarship application form
2. Responses to the following questions on a separate page
•
An explanation of why you are applying for this scholarship and how you will
use your scholarship money, if awarded.
•
How would you describe your future academic, career, or personal goals,
and how do your current educational pursuits support those goals?
•
Share an adversity you have faced in your life, and how you worked through
and overcame that adversity.
•
Write a statement of any financial considerations that the scholarship
committee should consider (financial need, family income, hardships, etc.)
•
Write a paragraph about the individual who has most influenced your life.
3. In addition to the information requested above, all high school seniors, current
college students, individuals reapplying to college, or students currently in or planning
to enter a vocational or technical training program, please include the following in
your application

Official and most recent transcript with cumulative grade point average
