Location:
Based at Callander Active Travel Hub, 30 Main Street, Callander
Purpose:
To effectively coordinate the Callander Active Travel Hub pilot project, funded by
Callander Community Hydro Fund. Acting as an ambassador for local cycling, walking
and active travel in Callander and the surrounding areas, the role will work closely
with key local stakeholders to promote existing projects and provide specific active
travel related information and referral services to the public. The role aims to
promote and encourage environmentally friendly and physically active modes of
travel through supporting events and other local activities, whilst developing a local
network of volunteers.
The position will play a key role in helping to develop an evidence base of need
around the development of a permanent active travel hub for the town, including
securing additional grant funding and partnerships.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES







Oversee all aspects of the day to day operation of the hub
Work closely with and maintain an excellent working relationship with the Forth Environment
Link team and projects.
Work to provide active travel related information and advice to the public, including information
on cycling/walking/all-abilities routes, services and activities.
Work on developing recommended rides in the area through planning and scouting routes, and
provision of risk assessments.
On occasion act as a cycling/walking leader on events, with responsibility for the group, route
planning and first aid.
Deal with customer enquiries including communication by telephone, face-to-face, email, and
social media.
Ensure ongoing evaluation of services at the hub, as well as strategies to identify the needs of
the wider community














Identify potential funding streams and develop funding proposals with the aim of extending the
operation of the hub into the future.
Help foster and develop relationships with key stakeholder’s e.g. local community, employers,
schools, Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park.
Work in partnership with other initiatives within the local community groups to promote and
increase active travel.
Help promote cycling and walking as part of Forth Environment Link’s wider active travel
agenda.
Responsibility for the day-to-day administration of the Hub, update of daily statistics and contact
databases.
Develop and maintain partnerships with other stakeholders who may also offer services out of
the hub.
Secure strong partnership working amongst partners within the hub.
Develop, implement and oversee a volunteer programme for the hub.
Develop and implement strategy to promote the hub through local and community media as
well as an online presence through websites and social media (including Facebook, Twitter,
phone apps and other platforms).
Ensure that the Callander Active Travel Hub supports Forth Environment Link’s wider sustainable
environmental commitments and communication strategy.
Participate in local events to promote the Callander Active Travel Hub.
Provide written and verbal reports as to the progress of the project.
Responsible for financial management of hub ensuring close financial monitoring and that
financial procedure for cash handling are adhered to.
Carry out other duties which may reasonably be required in light of the main purpose of the job

Educated to degree level or equivalent (D)
Two years experience in project management or a related area (E)
One year experience in staff management (E)
