Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles Medical Center
Congratulations to our latest
DAISY Award recipient
DAISY Awardee:
Ana Hernandez, RN
Department:
Preop unit
DA: Victoria Nidoy
Month: May, 2017
Ana has been our relief charge nurse full time for the last 3 months. She is a wonderful and
amazing nurse. She goes above and beyond, always making sure everything is flowing nicely in
Preop & patients are brought in promptly, she is constantly on the move, helping all the nurses.
I always have to tell her to take her break because her #1 concern are patients and Pre-op. Ana
is an exceptional nurse, she is a patient advocate and a nurse advocate. She is an extraordinary
nurse, and I have had the pleasure of working with her for the last 5 years.
Ana has gone above & beyond as a relief charge nurse. In Pre-Op getting ready for 7:30 a.m.
cases has always been hectic & challenging for the Pre-Op area. Ana has stepped up to the plate,
working both as an effective charge nurse delegating help whenever it is most needed & being
a team player whether it is accessing a difficult IV stick or just taking a patient to the bathroom.
What I like most about Ana is she takes care of her fellow nurses. She takes time to check every
consent as time allows it, especially for the 7:30 a.m. cases and she investigates when there is a
discrepancy involving one of her Periop nurses. When there is an issue involving the nurses, she
also takes it to heart when she is the one on watch. I fully appreciate and I am grateful to have
Ana as a charge nurse, a colleague, and a friend.
