DROP OFF YOUR
FOOD
SCRAPS
With the NYC Compost Project
Drop off your food waste with the NYC Compost Project, hosted by the
Queens Botanical Garden. We accept fruit and vegetable scraps; coffee
grounds, filters, and paper tea bags; bread and grains; egg shells, nutshells,
and corncobs; food-soiled paper towels and paper napkins; stale beans,
flour, and spices; and cut or dried flowers. Please do not bring meat or fish
scraps; cheese or dairy products; and fats, grease, oil, or oily foods.
How to store and transport your food scraps
Keep your food scraps in a paper bag, plastic bag, or reusa- ble
container, and store in your freezer to eliminate odors.
You may bring your scraps to us thawed or frozen.
At the drop-off site, empty food scraps into the bin. Paper bags can
go in the bin, but please tear them up first.
