Material Number: Size: Concentration: Reactivity: Target MW: Storage Buffer: Description ISGF3 (interferon-stimulated gene factor 3) is the primary transcription activator induced by the binding of interferon to a specific cell surface receptor. Functional ISGF3 is a complex of four polypeptides of 113 kDa (Stat2), 91 kDa (Stat1α), 84 kDa (Stat1β), and 48 kDa. The first three polypeptides contain both SH2 and SH3 domains in response to the binding of IFNα, IFNγ, EGF, PDGF, or CSF-1 to their respective receptors, the cytoplasmic ISGF3 subunits become tyrosine-phosphorylated and are translocated to the nucleus. This results in the formation of an active complex with the 48 kDa protein. This complex is responsible for modulating the transcription of the interferon-stimulated genes (ISGs). Thus, growth factors and cytokines appear to activate a common signal transduction pathway which leads to the phosphorylation and subsequent nuclear translocation of a group of latent cytoplasmic transcription factors. Western blot analysis of Stat1 on A431 cell lysate. Lane 1: 1:1000, lane 2: 1:2000, lane 3: 1:4000 dilution of anti-Stat1. Immunofluorescent staining of human endothelial cells. Caution: Sodium azide yields highly toxic hydrazoic acid under acidic conditions. Dilute azide compounds in running water before discarding to avoid accumulation of potentially explosive deposits in plumbing. Source of all serum proteins is from USDA inspected abattoirs located in the United States. References Chang TL, Peng X, Fu XY.
