Proton XBRL - IRIS Business Services

Processing large dimensional tables made easy
With Proton, processing of large dimensional tables is fairly fast and has high accuracy levels. It does not require manual
typing of any figures. All the figures in the table are extracted that avoids any errors which may occur due to manual keying
of data.
With Proton’s template based tabular tagging screen you need to only assign the domain members to the table/column
headers. Proton automatically creates the dimensional contexts for all the values, which not only reduces time but also
avoids errors occurring due to manual context creation and duplicate contexts for individual values.
Merging XBRL documents
This functionality combines two XBRL (Instance and Company Specific Taxonomy) documents created by different people.
This is useful especially in case of US conversion services that involve huge files; so work is distributed among the team and
merged on completion.
Version transition tool
This functionality enables taxonomy loading, base taxonomy import, and also allows you to transit the taxonomy from the
current version of the base taxonomy to the other. This has been used to convert US GAAP 2009 extensions taxonomies to
2011, and now is being used for converting 2011 taxonomies to 2012.
Automated Roll Forward
This functionality enables automated tagging of current year financial statements with great ease using previous year
instance documents (.xml, .xhtml). The contexts used in previous year can be roll forwarded to be used for next quarter/year
or as desired. Similarly, the data in current year document can be tagged with the same metadata (tag, unit, scale, etc.) used

& WORKFLOW APPLICATION
Proton in Microsoft Word®
Proton is now available for Microsoft® Word®. User can purchase the standalone desktop version or get Proton for
Microsoft® Word®. With this application, you can get all the functions and features of Proton as an add-on to your
Microsoft® Word® software. The add-on enables the user to tag the elements directly in the input Word® Document.
Proton embeds its unique markers into the document which gives the ability to edit (at any point in time) and create an
XBRL, or an iXBRL document.

Rich features for faster and more accurate tagging of large dimensional tables
Proton
Proton is a state of the art tool for XBRL authoring and validation. Conceptualized by a multi- disciplinary team from IRIS
(leader in XBRL space with experience of converting more than 25,000 documents into XBRL), it has been verified against all
regulatory taxonomies and has been used to create XBRL/iXBRL filings based on tuples, typed and explicit dimensions.
Proton is equipped with a horde of features to meet exacting user requirements that range from managing the complexity
of detailed footnote tagging to creating of iXBRL documents. In addition, Proton has the flexibility to accept input data from
unstructured, semi-structured or structured files such as HTML, Excel and Microsoft® Word®.
Advanced Validator
Proton comes bundled with an in-built
advanced validator that ensures accuracy and
correctness of tagging and linkbase creation
through various validation checks, and informs
you about discrepancies and errors.
Key Proton features:
Automated Quality Check reports highlighted
tagging & XBRL errors as well as deviations
from Best Practices specific to the regulatory
authority
Standalone or Workflow based system
Proton can be configured either as a standalone
desktop application or as a workflow based
system. Documents for conversion can be
uploaded into a queue in the workflow and
assigned to different people. Alternatively, you
can browse a source document present in your
machine to initiate the process of XBRL
document generation.
Reports
Proton provides several QC Reports that are
common for all filing purposes. Proton also has
the ability to generate reports specific to
regulators like SEC - US, HMRC - UK, MCA India. Reports highlight facts that have been
completely tagged, partially tagged or
untagged indicating the inconsistencies and
deviation from best practices.
Unique Embedded Tagging
Proton adopts a unique embedded tagging
approach in which Proton Identifiers are
embedded right inside the source document.
This increases the efficiency of document
tagging, quality check and creation of XBRL
documents.
Modular creation of documents
Proton enables the creation of XBRL documents in a modular fashion -separate XBRL documents for each section of an
input document. For example, for a detailed footnote tagging process, creation of separate instance documents for
multiple notes present in the input document.
Multiple Taxonomies
Proton enables you to search, select and
compare tags from multiple taxonomies and
across different label languages. Advanced
Search option in the taxonomy viewer enables
you to search elements based on the element
label as well as the element properties.
Automated Identification of scope
Proton has an in-built intelligent tagging scope
identifier that automatically scans the
documents and highlights tables and numbers
that need to be tagged by the user.
Automated Tagging & Linkbase Creation
The intelligent tagging engine of Proton
automatically assigns XBRL tags, creates
linkbases and also enables creation of
Document Entity Information.
Tag & create linkbases in one shot for simple &
complex table structures
Extend taxonomies and tag a document
simultaneously
Proton enables you to create an extension
taxonomy and tag data elements
simultaneously. You need not follow the lengthy
process of scanning through the document,
identifying tags to extend, creating taxonomy
and then tagging the document. Instead, you
can perform tagging while extending a tag
during the XBRL instance document creation
process.
Instance Editor
The Proton Instance Editor enables editing
instance documents in a very efficient manner. It
facilitates quick editing of instance documents
with the help of extended link view and filter
view. It helps you to filter the required fields for
editing and complete the process efficiently and
effectively.
