escape, when applicable – how
to go from victim to survivor.
As men and supporters of
men, we need to hold one
another accountable when
we see relationships that are
abusive – real men have healthy
partnerships.

Honoring Texas Victims
Below is a list of women who were fatal victims of domestic violence in Tarrant County in 2014. Some of these fatalities
were multiple homicides and included other family members. The ages of these victims range from 17 to 90, an indicator
that domestic violence knows no limits. This list is compiled annually by the Texas Council on Family Violence, and
published in their Honoring Texas Victims report. The full report can be found at www.tcfv.org under “Our Work,” then

Thank you for taking the time to read through this annual report.
Through the folds of this document you will see SafeHaven’s
accomplishments for 2015 and our ambitions for 2016 and beyond.
Please take the time to “save the date” for our events in 2016,
including our annual Legacy of Women event. This year we are proud
to announce Terry Bradshaw, former NFL quarterback and current
co-host of Fox NFL Sunday, as our speaker and honored guest. Mr.
Bradshaw has been very vocal about the issue of intimate partner
violence, specifically its pervasive nature in the NFL, and we are very
excited about hearing him in October.
Throughout this document you will see pictures of empty chairs,
representing the domestic violence fatalities that occurred in Tarrant
County in 2014. Domestic violence affects one in three women in Tarrant County, many of whom
are at risk of becoming a homicide victim. We believe it is important to honor these women, to
learn their stories and know them by name, so we can loudly proclaim, “No more. Not in my town,
my city, my county, my state. No more.” The empty seat on the cover of this report is there to
remember her – our neighbor – and to inspire us to take action on an entirely preventable death.

What is a Family Justice Center?
Way back in 2006, a local survey was conducted of every
agency who could provide services to a victim of domestic
violence. That year, the number was 39 agencies, which made
Tarrant County ripe for a Family Justice Center, or FJC. An FJC
is a co-location of service providers, all brought together in the
same place to address issues of family violence and intimate
partner violence. FJCs facilitate changes in systems and
challenge the traditional ways services have been provided to
victims and their children by bundling services and integrating
providers. In July 2015, SafeHaven of Tarrant County proudly
moved its administrative offices to One Safe Place, our
regional FJC. One Safe Place has 18 affiliated nonprofits, a fullservice daycare, and critical pieces of the Fort Worth Police
Department on site.

Outstanding partners such as Service King, The Birthday Party Project, National Charity
League of Fort Worth, and Hank FM, along with agency volunteers and donors, were
celebrated and acknowledged for their commitment to SafeHaven’s mission.
Legacy of Men
SafeHaven presented Vice President and Director of Security
for Bass Companies, Joel Glenn, with the Legacy of Men Award on April 16th at the River Ranch
Stockyards. Tim Brown, Heisman Trophy winner and former NFL wide receiver, spoke in regards to
his commitment to address violence.

Celebrating the 23rd anniversary of Legacy of Women, SafeHaven recognized 15 outstanding women
in the community for their accomplishments on October 1st at the Renaissance Worthington.
