Dear Valued Customer,
Welcome to the 2015 AIP Publishing Product Guide.
AIP Publishing takes great pride in the close partnership we actively foster with the library community,
supporting the curation and dissemination of world-class journal content to physicists and the wider
physical sciences community.
Imbuing our publishing portfolio with value, predictability, and flexibility is among our highest
priorities. We continue to offer options designed to suit the needs of libraries of varying sizes and
research intensity. This includes right-sized Tier Pricing, AIP Complete and AIP Select package offerings,
three-year price protection agreements, and affordable options to lease or purchase our extensive,
seminal backfile collection, the AIP Digital Archives.
With the successful launch of the new Scitation platform in 2013, we are able to provide enhanced
discoverability of and access to our digital content, supported by a powerful semantic capability and the
robust 7,500-term AIP Thesaurus.
As a steadfast advocate of enhancing access, AIP Publishing is expending considerable effort to grow
our program pragmatically with various journal models. We are now publishing three Gold Open Access
titles, AIP Advances, APL Materials, and Structural Dynamics, the latter in partnership with the American
Crystallographic Association.
Focusing on the needs of researchers, in 2014 we launched Applied Physics Reviews independently of
its parent journal, the Journal of Applied Physics. Because of the success and popularity of the Journal
of Applied Physics reviews, widely considered the “gold standard in the field,” and responding to the
recent rapid growth in applied physics research, Applied Physics Reviews is now able to offer a larger
selection of the high-quality, cutting-edge reviews that its audience has come to expect and value.
In conclusion, I would like to extend a sincere “thank you” for your ongoing support, which continues to
help us fulfill our mission of inspiring and informing the scientific community.
Warm regards,
John Haynes, Ph.D.
CEO, AIP Publishing
“Whether your researchers are looking for the best
physical sciences research from around the world or
they are looking to get their research in front of the
world’s leading scientists, AIP Publishing delivers.”

Fast Publication Times
As the pace quickens in international research, speed to publication is becoming more important to
researchers in all disciplines. AIP Publishing has undertaken a series of strategic moves to lower the
time to publication for our peer-reviewed publications, with impressive results. In the span of one year,
the average number of days from submission-to-publication dropped from 120 to 105 days.

Rigorous and Fair Peer Review
In 2013, over 22,075 individuals served as peer reviewers for AIP
Publishing, providing balanced, actionable feedback to advance the
research and careers of AIP Publishing authors. In that same year, over
90% of articles published benefited from significant reviewer input.

The Scitation Platform
scitation.aip.org
Offering Enhanced Discoverability and Accessibility
Launched in 2013, AIP’s Scitation platform is the online home for full text of the journals, magazines,
and conference proceedings published by AIP Publishing and AIP Member Societies.
AIP Thesaurus
The AIP Thesaurus assigns subjects to every piece of published content making it easy for users to
find the literature they need. Simply click on the topic of choice and drill down through 7,500 terms
to more accurately find the right research.
Enhanced Personalization Features
Scitation’s personalization features make it easier for users to manage their personal accounts quickly
and easily. In one location they can update their personal details, change favorites settings, keep track
of their search history, view purchased content, and set up alerts to stay up to date with the latest
information in their fields.
Article-Level Metrics for All AIP Publishing Journals
Article-level metrics provide a measure of an article’s influence over time as the usage accrues.
This COUNTER 3-compliant tool measures abstract and full-text article views and offers a graphical
snapshot of cumulative usage of both, beginning with the date the article was published online.
Author and Institution Disambiguation
This feature is the result of a project that mapped multiple name variations for more than 850,000
authors and 23,000 institutions. Each one has been assigned a unique identifier, making it easy to
locate an author’s or institution’s publications.
