1 Year, Many Milestones Achieved! One year ago today the
Brain Health Registry launched and inaugurated Brain Health
Registry Day. Now, on the second Brain Health Registry Day,
we look back and celebrate many important milestones that
we’ve reached, thanks to dedicated members like you.
• More than 22,000 volunteers now enrolled in the
Registry
• Nearly half of our members come back for 6-month
Return Visits
• More than 24,000 online cognitive assessments
complete by members, a feat that would take years and
years to accomplish using traditional, “paper and pencil”
versions of brain tests.
We’d like to express our deep gratitude for your commitment
to the Registry. We hope that you will continue your
participation and tell everyone you know to join the Brain
Health Registry.
Return Visits. The Brain Health Registry currently asks
members to come back two times a year for 6-month and
annual Return Visits. For many members this month marks
one year of participation in the Registry and that means it’s
time for their first annual Return Visit. We hope to see the
same turnout that we did for 6-month Return Visits.
Return Visits are crucial as they allow the Brain Health Registry
scientists to track changes in health, lifestyle and cognitive
function over time. While these changes may be subtle or
undetectable to the individual, multiple Return Visits within a
year, and over years, help to better spot change. As Brain
Health Registry co-founder and neuropsychologist Dr. Scott
Mackin explains, “these changes could be important indicators
of brain health and help identify ideal candidates for medical
research and clinical trials.” As always members will be
notified by email when it’s time for them to come back for
Return Visits.
BHR partners with B. Smith. Last month we announced a
partnership with former model, TV host and restaurateur B.
Smith and her husband Dan Gasby. We debuted a public
service announcement where B. encourages minorities and
under-represented groups to participate in the Brain Health
Registry. This PSA was featured on NBC’s TODAY show and
the CBS Evening News, helping to raise awareness. Since
then more than 5,500 new members have joined the Brain
Health Registry and 14% of new members identify as African
American.
Participation from everyone in brain health
research is the best way to develop better treatments for
all. We hope to see many more new members, from all walks
of life.
Additional Research Opportunities – Stay Tuned! The
Brain Health Registry aims to reduce costs and time associated
with clinical trials and we believe that one way we can do this is
facilitating recruitment. The Brain Health Registry is now
collaborating with investigators and piloting referral programs
for clinical trials. You may receive emails from us about
additional study opportunities. We will only send emails about
study opportunities that we think you’ll be eligible for.
You are helping to revolutionize brain health research. We thank you for an amazing
year of growth and insights. Happy Brain Health Registry Day!
