7) Working on writeup of proposed ideas for new public relations position.
8) Need to confirm/revise signature list for bank accounts with consideration of recent

Vending Machine Report (Cathy Wood/Kim Majestic):
Joe Deaver met with Kim Majestic and Cathy Wood on Thursday, June 9th, 2016 at the
Little Elm Library. The detailed spread sheet on items in the vending machine was
explained and reviewed by Joe. An inventory of items in the vending machine and
storage room were completed and recorded. The coins and paper bills in the vending
machine were removed and counted. The coins and paper bills will be deposited by Joe
in the bank.
Literacy Report (Jen Morick):
1) We are very happy with the success of the literacy banquet that was held on June 6.
There were almost 100 people who attended. We wish to give a huge thank-you to all
who helped with the banquet or who attended to support the program and our students.
There was a good article on the front page of LE Journal last week about the banquet
and the program.
2) The Literacy Program is in the planning stages of a speaker’s bureau. Alan Mesches
(Level 2 ESL Teacher) has agreed to take the lead on that. Diana and I are assisting
him with it.
3) I am excited that Diana has appointed me as Assistant Literacy Coordinator and look
forward to continue working with our students and to helping advocate for the program.
4) Diana is requesting that the board vote to approve the reimbursement of $603.13 for
expenses incurred for the banquet. (The budget proposal was for $800.)
Motion & Second: Approve reimbursement of $603.13 banquet expenses.
Vote: Motion carried.
Library Update (Lynette Roberson):
1) Summer Reading Kickoff was a success: 230 came to kickoff celebration.
2) SRP Registration: 344 registrants after 1st week: 43 Early Readers, 176 Kids, 31
Teens, and 93 adults.
2
3) Good attendance at weekly programs and events.
Membership Report (Kim Majestic):
We currently have 62 active members. Renewal letters will be sent this month (June
2016).
Luis said the Chamber is questioning whether the membership swap is fair since
Chamber dues are higher than FOL dues. Some discussion was held, and Kim will
discuss this with Luis to see what may be a good resolution.
The question arose about some events that have been held where FOL could have had a
table, but we didn’t participate. This is a topic that needs further review next month.
Please consider utilizing your sphere of influence, and contact friends and family to join
our FOL group. If each of us that regularly attend meetings brought 2 new members,
that would be an additional 16-20 new “Friends”! More minds and hands to share the
FOL tasks and to create a new synergy for our group!
Public Relations Report (Claudia Stooksberry):
Claudia is gathering information on events we need to publicize and plans to meet with
both Joe and Randy to for their ideas before the July meeting.
Scholarship Update (Tony Luton):
Scholarships are awarded on merit, not on need. The winner has other scholarships so
the committee is still working on the best way to reward the winner without jeopardizing
the other scholarships. Tony will discuss our suggestions with the winner and will report
back at our next meeting.
Newsletter Update (Randy Farmer):
Randy has picked up the newsletter computer and will meet with Cathy for a lesson in
Publisher. He also plans to coordinate with Claudia (Public Relations) and Kim
(Membership).
New Items:
1) Vacancy on Board: The board needs to fill the At-Large position that was held by
America Wallace, since she has moved out of state. It was proposed that Jane
Schoknecht be appointed to fill that position.
Motion & Second: Appoint Jane Schoknecht to fill the vacant position
Vote: Motion carried.
2) Coordinator – Trivia: We do not have a coordinator for the 2016 trivia event. As
soon as possible this position must be filled in order to begin the process of setting up a
