In light of the unfortunate event in Orlando last
weekend and our readings today, the question of identity
comes to mind, who are we? What have we become?
The massacre in Orlando, the shootings in San Bernardino, CA and Newtown, CT just to mention a few within
our own country, are simply acts of hate, hate not necessarily against a specific group or individuals, but against humanity.
Hate has taken over our world by people who have
not experienced love, true Love to be correct. People today
are realizing that love is the answer to change the world not
hate, but whose love and what kind of love? Man needs
God’s love in his heart, we need to know that we are all precious and possess an intrinsic worth that needs to be respected, honored, valued and protected. We must relearn
our human worth; we must relearn the value of ALL human
life, because everyone regardless of faith, race, sexual orientation, and status in society is a child of God, which is who
we are.
FRIDAY, June 24
GOD’S LOVE is the answer to all our factions today.
As Christians we are called to live and give birth God’s love to
the world, perhaps we are not putting too much effort into
our baptismal call. Let us not become discouraged by the
overwhelming atmosphere of hate in the world today, but let
us be filled with the True Love that can satisfy the human
soul and that love is God’s love. So, who are you? What have
you become?

MOMENTS OF MERCY
JUNE 2016
What is the opposite of indifference?
After reading through Misericordiae
Vultus, we see that being compassionate is the opposite of indifference. Pope
Francis encourages us not to "fall into
humiliating indifference or a monotonous routine that prevents us from discovering what is
new! Let us ward off destructive cynicism! Let us open
our eyes and see the misery of the world, the wounds of
our brothers and sisters who are denied their dignity,
and let us recognize that we are compelled to heed their
cry for help!" (MV, no. 15). How easy it is in today's society to ignore the cries of those in need and to become
cynical about the state of the world around us. We
might feel that our small acts of mercy cannot really
change anything. But the indifference of the world will
not change until we start showing the compassionate
love and mercy of God toward everyone we meet and
become more involved in our communities.
1. Dare to be compassionate! Read the local paper or
watch the local news. Recognize where there is a need
in your community, and pray for those who are in need
and for those caring for them.
2. Volunteer at a local charity organization this month. If
there is a need that you have come to recognize in your
community, see if there are particular organizations that
your parish is involved in, and join with others in supporting your community.

¿En que nos hemos convertido?

El vino, el pan, y la vela del
tabernáculo pueden ser ofrecidas en
honor de un ser querido por un mes.
A raíz del desafortunado evento en Orlando el pasado
fin de semana y las lecturas de hoy, la pregunta de identidad
viene a la mente, ¿quiénes somos? En que nos hemos convertido?
EL VINO que serán distribuidos hoy en todas la Misas han sido ofrecidos por la salud y bienestar de
Barbara Maran.
La matanza en Orlando, la masacre en San Bernardino, CA y Newtown, CT sólo para mencionar unos pocos dentro de nuestro propio país, son simplemente actos de odio,
odio no necesariamente en contra de un grupo o individuos
específicos, sino contra la humanidad.
LAS VELAS que serán usadas hoy en todas las Misas
han sido ofrecidas por la salud y bienestar del Diacono Leonides Aponte y Familia.
LAS HOSTIAS usadas hoy en todas las Misas han
sido ofrecidas por el descanso eterno de Cristino Roman.
El odio se ha apoderado de nuestro mundo por personas que no han experimentado el amor, el Verdadero Amor
para ser correcto. La sociedad hoy en día se está dando cuenta de que el amor es la respuesta para cambiar el mundo, no
el odio, pero ¿el amor de quién y qué clase de amor?
El hombre necesita el Amor de Dios en su corazón,
tenemos que saber que todos somos preciosos y poseemos
un valor intrínseco que necesita ser respetado, honrado, valorado y protegido. Hay que volver a aprender nuestro valor
humano; debemos volver a aprender el valor de TODA vida
humana, porque toda persona, independientemente de fe,
raza, orientación sexual y estatus social es un hijo/a de Dios,
esto es lo que somos.
El Amor de Dios es la respuesta a todas nuestras facciones de hoy. Como cristianos, estamos llamados a vivir y
dar a luz el amor de Dios al mundo, tal vez no estamos poniendo demasiado esfuerzo en nuestro llamado bautismal.
Pero no nos desalentemos por la atmósfera de odio abrumadora en el mundo de hoy, pero vamos a llenaros del Amor
Verdadero que sabe satisfacer el alma humana y ese amor es
el amor de Dios. ¿Entonces, quién eres? ¿En qué te has convertido?

MOMENTOS DE MISERICORDIA
¿Cómo es la misericordia a través de los ojos de otra persona? Sabemos cómo nos gustaría que la gente actúe con
misericordia hacia nosotros, pero ¿qué es la misericordia
para un familiar, nuestro compañero de trabajo o la persona con la que nos cruzamos todos los días? Para cada uno
de nosotros, hay cosas particulares que son significativas
y hablan de nuestra necesidad de misericordia. A pesar de
estas diferencias, siempre podemos ministrarnos unos a
otros, porque el amor de Dios sobrepasa nuestras diferencias y nos atrae a todos en el único Cuerpo de Cristo. Para
mostrar a los demás el amor de Dios a través de actos de
misericordia y compasión, tenemos que estar atentos a
sus necesidades y la manera en que Dios está obrando en
sus vidas.
1. Sea voluntario una parte de su tiempo este mes en un
lugar donde encuentre una diversidad de personas, por
ejemplo, un centro comunitario local, un banco de alimentos o un refugio para desamparados. Aunque cada uno
puede tener necesidades diferentes, todos están buscando el amor y misericordia de Dios. Reflexione sobre la manera en que su necesidad del amor de Dios es similar a la
necesidad del amor de Dios de ellos.
2. Pase algún tiempo hablando con un familiar o amigo
más joven o más viejo. A veces ignoramos a aquellos cuya
perspectiva de la vida es diferente o muy alejada de la
nuestra (por ser mucho más jóvenes o mucho más viejos
que nosotros). Escuche lo que es importante para ellos,
reconociendo el amor de Dios que actúa en sus vidas y la
mejor manera en que puede usted actuar con misericordia
y compasión hacia ellos.

A Father’s Day Prayer
God, Bless all the fathers in the world. Father, we ask
that You guide them to be good role models and loving
to their children. We also ask that You help them to be a
father like You are. Give them the grace and patience to
handle situations in a loving way. Amen.
