Auditions for the music scholarships will be held in the first week of September 2015. Auditions for the music bursaries will be held on Tuesday 7 October 2014. Interested students should obtain an application form from the Music Administrator, Mr Mark Pountney. Scholarships and bursaries are awarded on the basis of musical and technical proficiency as well as potential. Scholarships and bursaries are normally held for the full length of the holder’s studies in music at the University (subject to satisfactory progress). In addition, there are a number of music bursaries for students enrolled on a music degree at Liverpool Hope University. A music bursary entitles a student to twenty hours of free vocal or instrumental tuition per academic year, rather than the normal fifteen hours. The scholarships are for high-level vocal/instrumental tuition, free accommodation and exposure to excellent performance opportunities. For the string scholarships, students will be tutored by members of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra. Male vocal scholars will have opportunities to perform with the Metropolitan Cathedral Choir. The organ scholarship offers a student the chance to be tutored by the Organist and Director of Music at the Metropolitan Cathedral. • four vocal scholarships for soprano, alto (male or female), tenor and bass; • four string scholarships for two violins, viola and violoncello; • one joint organ scholarship (together with Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral). There are nine music scholarships worth overall more than £40,000: Each year Liverpool Hope University offers a number of music scholarships and music bursaries to incoming music students. Scholarship and bursary holders are expected to participate actively in the musical life of Liverpool Hope University through our various choirs, orchestras and ensembles which perform regularly at official University events and in the wider community.
