DESCRIPTION OF TESTING
Testronic completed Functionality and Compatibility testing of the Digital File Check (DFC)
application.
The functionality testing conducted included:

Blocking and removing of P2P programs

Default and advanced Searches for

File sharing programs

Music files

Video files

Application functionality across different user accounts

Traffic monitoring

Updates to Definitions
Testing considered how general computer users interact with the system and some of the
testing time was devoted to “ethical hacking”.
Compatibility testing checked the Digital File Check application installs and runs as expected
across PC and MAC operating systems*.
SUMMARY OF FINDINGS
Having conducted the testing Testronic can confirm the following about the Digital File
Check application:

Viruses and malware – The application was tested for viruses and malware; the
results of which show that Digital File Check is safe for download and use on PC and
MAC configurations*.

Application communication – The internet traffic was monitored across the Digital
File Check application’s full set of features to ensure the application did not attempt
to communicate with any third party web services. There was no communication to
any third parties, keeping results locally.

Application functionality – The application functionality corroborates with the
description accompanying the program: “A free, easy to use software designed to

help stop your computer being used for illegal sharing and downloading of music,
films and TV programs. Digital File Check is 100 per cent for your personal and
private use only. The results of using the software remain on your computer and are
not disclosed to anyone else.”


CHECKLIST OF KEY AREAS TESTED
This is a checklist highlighting key areas of the application tested. Testing was not limited to
what is shown within this section; a significant proportion of testing was also focused on
exploratory testing.
Traffic Monitoring
 Results of using the software remain on the individual user’s computer and are not
disclosed to any third parties (including Internet Service Provider).
Multiple user accounts
 Application installs and functions as expected on the compatible operating systems
 Application installs on the different user accounts on the computer
 Once installed on a computer by the admin user, the program works with all user
profiles on that computer
 A user cannot get access to the Digital File Check program on a non-admin account
without a valid username and password
 Application cannot be uninstalled by anyone except the admin user
 Application can find files stored on other user accounts
 The Digital File Check application did not contain any viruses or malware
