Faculty/Staff/Students Needed to Serve as “Debriefers”
The Tunnel of Oppression is an interactive theater program that transforms space to educate the
campus community on issues of atrocities and hate in America, including racism, sexism,
ableism, homophobia, classism, and violence. The program sponsored by Diversity Advocacy
but relies on the participation of faculty, staff, and students from throughout the campus
community for its success
Because the program is interactive, it can raise very strong thoughts and feeling among the
participants. Following the program, all participants attend a small group meeting to “debrief”.
The goal of debriefing is to being the process of transforming the anger, fear, confusion, and
sadness often elicited by the program into feelings of hop, resolve, and commitment to make a
difference. Debriefers facilitate these small group meetings. During an hour and a half shift,
debriefers can expect to lead 5-8 debriefing meetings.
