 TASMAN SECONDARY SCHOOLS RUGBY 7s CHAMPIONSHIPS 2016 EVENT INFORMATION SENIOR RUGBY 7’S Date Wednesday October 26 2016 Time 10:00 am APPROX…. start time TBC with draw Venue Landsdowne Park, Blenheim. Entry Entries due Wednesday October 19 full team lists also to be submitted at this time. All entries must be made on the official entry form. Entry fee $35 per team. Schools will be invoiced after the event by Sport Tasman. Teams may have more than 10 players in their squads. However, only 10 players may be used in one match. All players must be on team sheets prior to the commencement of the tournament. Players may only play for the team they are registered for. All teams must wear a numbered team uniform. A coach/team manager must accompany each team. The draw will be emailed to team managers prior to the championships. Game Duration All games will be fifteen (15) minute’s duration consisting of: Two seven (7) minute halves with a one (1) minute half‐time break. Final will consist of two ten (10) minute halves with a two (2) minute half time break If the final is drawn at full‐time, the game will continue on the following basis:  Captains will toss for the right to kick‐off or choice of ends  Extra time will be played in periods of five (5) minutes.  After each period the teams shall change ends without interval In extra time, the winner will be determined by the team scoring first, at which time the match will be completed. Toss Kicks Captains are to toss during half time of the game previous to theirs. This is to ensure timing of games remain on schedule. A toss will be performed at the Officials Tent. www.sporttasman.org.nz Scrums All restarts will be drop‐kicks. The team that scores points will also restart with a kick (as per normal seven‐a‐side rules) rather than receive the kick. All scrums will be contested by a three (3) man front row. Substitutions Unlimited Substitutions. Players can be substituted at any time during the game during a stoppage of play. Points Four (4) points will be awarded for a win. Two (2) points will be awarded for a draw. One (1) bonus point will be awarded for a loss by seven (7) points or less. One (1) bonus point will be awarded for any team scoring four (4) or more tries. Registration of Players Only registered players are able to take the field in the tournament. Playing of unregistered players will result in teams being withdrawn from the tournament. Finalists At the completion of the round robin the top two teams will play a final If there are two or more teams on the same points, the following options will be used to determine the team awarded the semi‐final playoff: 



If at the end of the qualifying round two teams have equal points, the team who beat the other in pool play will be placed ahead. The team with the best points differential will advance The team who has scored the most tries will advance The toss of a coin will determine who advances Medical First Aid support will be in attendance but Teams supply their own first‐aid kits, ice and strapping tape etc for basic injuries. Uniform All teams must wear a uniform with the numbering on the back of the playing shirt. Please ensure the numbers are clear and easily read. Officials A teacher or adult must accompany all teams. This person will be responsible for ensuring the team(s) are organised and turn up ready to play at their allocated times. Refereeing Nelson Bays Rugby Union will provide referees for the Senior Division and will endeavour to provide referees for the Junior Division which may include some referees who are currently doing referee courses. Touch Judges Nelson Bays Rugby Union will not provide touch judges. Each team is responsible for running the touch during their game. Each team to provide one touch judge each. Jeni Thornborough

The winner of the tournament will qualify to compete at the NZSS Condor 7s being held in Auckland December 3 and 4 2016 in Auckland, location to be confirmed. Flights for the qualifying team will be covered by the event!
