If one word could summarize the receiving Home Poker run and silent auction, it would be AWESOME! We opened registration
at 10:00 am and were immediately swamped with riders wanting to get on the road. We chose a route this time that included some
different scenery and the feedback was phenomenal. Riders reported back that going to the Rose Room in Pendroy was a first, even
for those who have been riding for several years. The weather cooperated, the sun was brilliant and the results were amazing. All
total, we were able to donate just over $2000 to The Great Falls Children’s Receiving Home. But even better, we engaged new
members and made new connections along the way.
As we enter the final days of spring, please remember to join us on June 24th and 25th for the Anniversary celebration at Big Sky
Harley. Brian has opened his checkbook and laid out a great event. The Harley Davidson trailer will be available and for those with
proper endorsements, this is your opportunity to ride some of the best motorcycles ever made. Along with a variety of motorcycles
available for test rides, we are music, food, vendors and so much more. The event will kick off Friday with ELVIS. The show is
free and family oriented, so please mark the date and bring your friends.
The HOG Chapter is also planning group ride orientation sessions, a ride or two to the state rally in Bozeman and a lot of
additional activities that will be addressed in another portion of the newsletter.
In addition to everything else we are doing, starting Tuesday, June 14th we are kicking of a Tuesday morning breakfast ride, for
those able, please join us at the dealership at 9am for kickstands up and a ride to somewhere for breakfast…
July promises to be a very busy month as we head onto the heart of the riding season. The Lincoln Rally, State Rally, HOG Wallers,
Poker runs, Fund raisers and a lot more are still to come!
Again, mark your calendars for Friday and Saturday, June 24th and 25th and come help us celebrate our Sponsoring Dealers
Anniversary celebration. Check our website, Facebook, watch for HOG FLASHES and join us for a summer full of rides and
friendship.
Simply put, it’s time to ride. The Gopher Chip is gearing up and so is Summer, so please check your scoots for tread and
maintenance. Then, hang on, it’s gonna be a great season.
Ride often, ride safe but as always,
Just Ride,
Jim

Assistant Director’s News:
Summer is here!
GFCRH Fund Raiser. We hosted a fundraiser for the Great Falls Children’s Receiving Home on
Sunday. Thank you to Marlene and Jim Olson; this event would not have been the success it was
without their energy and enthusiasm. Thank you to Tiffany F., Debbie B. and Greg V – they
volunteered and registered the Poker Run participants with smooth precision. A special thank you to
Yvonne V. she saw a need and stepped in and filled it flawlessly.
MT HOG State Rally. July 21-23 in Bozeman/Belgrade area. Greg V. will be announcing when
different groups will be departing from the Great Falls area. I will be traveling down as part of a small
group in the morning of Thursday, 21 July. I will take my time and meander down to Yellowstone
Harley Davidson sightseeing along the way. If you wish to join us: email me at
[email protected] or call me (my number is available at Big Sky HD). We would love to have
you join us.
Last Bulb Burning. Well we completed this fund raiser at our meeting Saturday morning. I will be
delivering your winnings as soon as I can locate you.

Activities:
Be sure to keep up with all your H.O.G. activities which are posted on the large white eraser board in our updated Pig Sty area
at Big Sky Harley. If anyone is interested in riding to the State H.O.G. Rally in the Bozeman/Belgrade area, there will be a couple
rides leaving from Big Sky. 1st ride leaves on Thursday, July 21st with Bob & Deb Bourgeois and the 2nd ride leaves Saturday
morning, July 23rd with yours truly. There will also be a ride going to the Beartooth Rally on Friday, July 15th, again with yours
truly. Keep your eyes on the board for any additional rides or for info for the upcoming weeks. Also in the works for this
summer are a stock car race outing and a Voyagers baseball bleacher party.
As always feel free to give me your input on any ideas you all would like us to entertain.

The Power of the Bell
How to keep bad luck and “road gremlins” away from your Harley.
According to legend, the “open road” isn’t really as open as you’d like it to be. Rather, it is inhabited by
countless “road gremlins,” dispatched by evil spirits to wreak havoc on you and your motorcycle. Some say these
gremlins are the source of all the mishaps and mayhem that sometimes make your ride less than perfect.
Fortunately, there’s a defense against these invisible little evil-doers. It’s called a “ride bell,” a powerful weapon in the battle against
bad luck. If you don’t already have one yourself, chances are you’ve seen one on somebody else’s bike. Or maybe you haven’t, as
they’re attached to the bike somewhere inconspicuous.
No one is exactly quite sure how they work – different theories abound. One is that the gremlins are attracted to the pleasant sound,
but then become trapped inside the bell, where the constant ringing drives them crazy. Eventually, they drop to the ground and,
according to some, that’s where potholes come from.
However they work, everyone seems to agree on one important thing about ride bells: Sure, you can buy one for yourself, but their
power is doubled when you receive one as a gift.
Will having a ride bell prevent you from ever experiencing bad luck on the road? We can’t guarantee
that. We can, however, say for certain that your troubles will not be caused by invisible evil spirits.
Whether you believe the legend or not, a ride bell makes a great gift. No matter if you’re the giver or the
recipient, it’s a powerful token of friendship, respect, and affection.
I would be remiss if I did not send a personal HOG CALL OUT to all those who made the receiving home auction
successful. Marlene, your chapter secretary took total charge of the auction items, spending countless hours and days calling
and collecting the fabulous items we were able to offer. Although not her job, she took control and made it special.
Bob and Deb Bourgeois for all the effort to make registration an easy and quick process. By preparing all the release forms,
registration, as always, was effortless. For the officers who showed up and rode the route, helped with registration. collected
forms and helped with the silent auction, thank you for the support.
And of course, Mr. Dick Zaddick from the flamingo. Dick stepped up, offered his business, his staff and provided the remote
radio broadcast. Dick's efforts made this event highly successful. Mr. Zaddick has been a huge supporter of your chapter for a
long time and is always there to do whatever he can to help with our events. Thank you Dick and the Staff at the Flamingo.
