? WE GATHER TO WORSHIP GOD ?
Surprising and Persistent God,
you never give up on me.
You seek me, follow me, call me.
I cannot escape from your yearning for me
and only when I turn to you do I find the sweetness of life,
the reason for living … an ever-flowing fountain of joy.
Thank you for your amazing grace,
which surprises me, comforts me, and renews me.
Give me a heart of gratitude
and forever let me sing your praise.
THE PEACE OF CHRIST
The Passing of the Peace of Christ is a sign that those in the community of faith are
reconciled in love to one another. It may be expressed as a verbal exchange (“Peace be
with you” or simply “Peace”) or by gesture. Much more than a friendly greeting, it
expresses the peace of Christ that dwells among God’s people.

? WE ARE SENT TO WITNESS AND SERVE ?
Decide daily to be Christ’s disciples. Be free with faithfulness, lavish with love and
selfless with service. For each person you meet is a child of God. Go well with God …
and may peace be with us and among us.
FIRST UNITED METHODIST CHURCH IS MAKING A DIFFERENCE!
First Church loves children! That’s why we work so hard to make our Sunday school
a place where children can learn about the One who loves them with an extraordinary.
And this learning is more than just hearing – it’s experiencing that love through the love
of our teachers, staff, and assistants. Oh, and because we love children, we reach out
beyond our walls to the children in our community through a wonderful program called
WOW (Way Out Wednesdays.) WOW makes disciples. It teaches children about Jesus …
and Jesus teaches us through the children. And have you noticed that children lead us in
worship each Sunday? Children are an important part of our worship experience. They
serve as acolytes (attendants), and warm our hearts as they gather to hear “The Good
News for Children.” It’s what we do here at First Church – we follow Jesus and help
others to follow him, too! So… this morning, when you place your tithes and offerings in
the collection plate, know that God is using your gift to make a difference!

Exciting News – our website is up and running! Each week’s bulletin and our
Newscaster are posted. Please visit often and share the mission of our church with your
Neighbors, Acquaintances, Relatives and Friends at http://fumcscwv.com.
Please sign the registration pads at the end of each pew. This helps the office keep in
touch with those that have not been in church for several Sundays.
Greetings to all our Visitors today. We hope you picked up a yellow cross lapel pin
located outside our front doors. Our congregation wants to meet and greet you prior to
worship service by shaking of hands and words of kindness shared during The Peace of
Christ time and after our service. Our sanctuary is one of Open Hearts, Open Minds and
Open Doors. May we grow in our fellowship together praising God for our precious life,
obtaining forgiveness through Jesus Christ and words shared through the Holy Spirit.
Thank you for sharing your time in fellowship with us today.
