Hillary Gillin, Brandon Patterson, and Mamie Shelton have all advanced to the Texas FFA State
Scholarship Review in May. They are now part of a pool of 250 applicants from across the state. It is predicted
that approx. 131 FFA members will be called to the state interviews in June.
We will know our youngsters’ status by May 23.

graduating senior?
“At the State FFA LDE competition I did Hillary and
Mamie's makeup before their Ag issues competition, and for
the remainder of the trip, I was known as ‘Miss Paulina

on her way to class. I’m really going to miss our morning

job. Maybe I’ll be the next Erin Andrews. I’ll be bringing home the
bacon.
Greatest HS Achievement: Probably winning our Area game against
Fayetteville.
Favorite Tilden Memory: Taking naps in class, our video watching,
and random tangents in anatomy.
Greatest Lesson Learned: You can’t make others happy unless you’re
happy with yourself first, and also, when in doubt, google it!
Would Have Done Different: I would have not worried so much about
the little things and tried to enjoy my time here a bit more.
Fear about Graduating: Having to gain even more responsibility and the Freshman 15!

Impacted You Most: Mr. Harris, although sometimes he can get on my nerves, I
can always count on him to make my situation better. He has taught me more than I
could ever imagine.
10 Years from Now: I hope to have a successful career and live in a nice city.
Greatest HS Achievement: Being NHS President for 2 years.
Favorite Tilden Memory: All of the early morning taco runs with Mr. McAfee
and the dual credit students. Gotta love good tacos with good friends.
Greatest Lesson Learned: Not to always look at one thing. It’s
important to look at the whole picture of life. Stressing out about the little things
just isn’t worth it.
Would Have Done Different: I would have played tennis all 4 years.
Fear about Graduating: Not seeing everyone anymore, and not getting any more
of the cafeteria’s delicious breakfast pizza and donuts!

what’s right and what’s wrong, and even though I make mistakes, I know
that they’ll always be there for me.
10 Years from Now: Hopefully have a healthy family and be a registered
nurse.
Greatest HS Achievement: Winning our Area game in basketball and
graduating high school.
Favorite Tilden Memory: The last week of school my junior year, it was
the greatest, and always the Labor Day Rodeo.
Greatest Lesson Learned: Watch what you say because your mouth and
attitude can get you into a lot of trouble.
Would Have Done Different: I’d have tried to stay out of trouble and just focus on my grades and really try
to stay out of the drama.
Fear about Graduating: Not being able to see my family and friends as much and not making it in the real
world.

Impacted You Most: My mom because she has helped me get through
everything and she has taught me so much in life. She is my hero and I
look up to her each and every day.
10 Years from Now: Living a healthy life, owning my own salon, and
possibly married with kids.

Greatest HS Achievement: Passing my 4 exit level tests and passing
Ms. Dempsey’s hard history class.
Favorite Tilden Memory: Going to school here my whole life,
making new friends and going to Vacation Bible School.
Greatest Lesson Learned: You can do anything as long as you
believe and give it your all.
Would Have Done Different: Nothing because I feel I have done my
best, and where I failed I picked up my head and learned from it.
Fear about Graduating: Growing up and facing the real world alone and making new friends in college.

Known As: The Bottomless Pit
Impacted You Most: My parents; they have made me the person I am today.
10 Years from Now: I hope to have started a career, established a home, and
possibly even started a small family.
Greatest HS Achievement: Winning our Area basketball game and advancing
to the Regional Quarterfinals.
Favorite Tilden Memory: I would have to say our taco runs just about every
other morning during 1st period.
Greatest Lesson Learned: You only live once so don’t take life so seriously
because it takes away from the fun.
Would Have Done Different: Stressed less so that high school would have been more enjoyable.
Fear about Graduating: Gaining tons of weight and being completely on my own.

in Dallas.

Clay Atkinson of McMullen
County High School traveled to
Brenham to compete in the 1A
Regional golf tournament held on
April 16th and 17th. Clay shot an 82
on the 1st day which put him 7 strokes
behind the leader headed into the
second and final day of competition.
On the Second day of competition
Clay had one of his best rounds all
year shooting a 72 which overtook the
leader by one stroke to win the Regional Championship. Winning
the Regional championship qualifies Clay to compete in the State
Tournament held at the Lions Municipal Golf Course in Austin on
May 3rd and 4th.
