UK Plans for trees
A new plan to help preserve trees in the UK has been
unveiled at Westminster.
The strategy developed by Forest Research, the Earth Trust and
Future Trees Trust, aims to protect broadleaved species in the UK.
Broadleaved species are trees which have big, wide leaves (like
oak trees) instead of needle-like leaves (like fir trees). Broadleaved
woodlands have declined in the UK in the last 200 years. The
plan encourages people to choose seeds and saplings from
broadleaved species when planting new trees.
