Summary: Associate is required to offer outstanding customer service. Obtains or receives
merchandise, totals bills, accepts payment, and makes change for customers in the retail
store by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:










Stocks shelves, counters, or tables with merchandise.
Arranges merchandise on counters, shelves or tables to promote sales.
Stamps, marks, or tags price on merchandise.
Answers customer’s questions concerning location, price and use of merchandise.
Accurately enters inventory numbers into electronic cash register to total price and tax
on merchandise purchased by customer to determine bill. On occasion, manually
totals sales and tax using a calculator.
Accepts payment and makes change; runs credit card sales; accepts checks with proper
identification.
Wraps or bags merchandise for customers.
Cleans merchandise, shelves, counters, tables, carpets or floors. Disposes of boxes and
packing material. Stocks department daily with supplies bags, boxes, tissue and
register tape.
Verifies cash in drawer at beginning of shift.
Counts and records amount of cash in register at end of shift.

Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty
satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or
ability required. Some computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Word, Access and
Excel, excellent telephone skills, and familiar with office equipment. Knowledge of Retail Pro or
other inventory management software preferred, but not required. Reasonable accommodations

Education and/or Experience:
High school graduate with retail experience preferred.
Language Skills:
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present
information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one or two-step instructions.
Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional variables.
