NEW MEETING VENUE COMMENCING 19th AUGUST: The Penrith, Golf and Recreation Club, The Northern Road, Glenmore Park. LAST MEETING President Pat opened the meeting and welcomed the members to which proved to be a very interesting meeting deed. Secretary Rayella advised that apologies had been received from Phyllis Reynolds, Joe and Lori Tabone, Bob and Joy Ley, Lorraine Batterham, Fay M. Smith, Fay Pastega and Pam Mahoney. A discussion was held on a proposal from the Committee for a new meeting venue. President Pat outlined a proposal obtained from Penrith Golf and Recreation Club that we have all future meetings at that venue. After much discussion and answered questions, it was moved and passed that standing resolutions be suspended to allow a vote to be held on the matter immediately rather than wait another month. The vote to move was put and was carried unanimously. As a result of the decision, commencing with the August Meeting all future meetings will be held at the Penrith Golf and Recreation Club, The Northern Road, Glenmore Park. The Guest Speakers, Lisa and Rebecca, assisted by Jojo and Kazoomi from the RSPCA “Paws Programme” Lisa and Rebecca told us of the work the programme does in providing pet companionship for needy and disadvantaged people. PAST MEMORIES – MOUNT PIPER POWER STATION 28-10-2010. DID YOU KNOW ON JULY 20, 1969, AS COMMANDER OF THE APOLLO 11 LUNAR MODULE, NEIL ARMSTRONG WAS THE FIRST PERSON TO SET FOOT ON THE MOON. HIS FIRST WORDS AFTER STEPPING ON THE MOON, "THAT'S ONE SMALL STEP FOR MAN, ONE GIANT LEAP FOR MANKIND," WERE TELEVISED TO EARTH AND HEARD BY MILLIONS. BUT JUST BEFORE HE RE-ENTERED THE LANDER, HE MADE THE ENIGMATIC REMARK "GOOD LUCK, MR. GORSKY." MANY PEOPLE AT NASA THOUGHT IT WAS A CASUAL REMARK CONCERNING SOME RIVAL SOVIET COSMONAUT. HOWEVER, UPON CHECKING, THERE WAS NO GORSKY IN EITHER THE RUSSIAN OR AMERICAN SPACE PROGRAMS. OVER THE YEARS, MANY PEOPLE QUESTIONED ARMSTRONG AS TO WHAT THE - 'GOOD LUCK, MR. GORSKY' STATEMENT MEANT, BUT ARMSTRONG ALWAYS JUST SMILED. ON JULY 5, 1995, IN TAMPA BAY FLORIDA WHILE ANSWERING QUESTIONS FOLLOWING A SPEECH, A REPORTER BROUGHT UP THE 26-YEAR-OLD QUESTION ABOUT MR GORSKY TO ARMSTRONG.THIS TIME HE FINALLY RESPONDED BECAUSE MR. GORSKY HAD DIED, SO NEIL ARMSTRONG FELT HE COULD NOW ANSWER THE QUESTION. HERE IS THE ANSWER TO "WHO WAS MR GORSKY": IN 1938, WHEN HE WAS A KID IN A SMALL MID-WESTERN TOWN , HE WAS PLAYING BASEBALL WITH A FRIEND IN THE BACKYARD. HIS FRIEND HIT THE BALL, WHICH LANDED IN HIS NEIGHBOUR'S YARD BY THEIR BEDROOM WINDOW. HIS NEIGHBOURS WERE MR. AND MRS. GORSKY. AS HE LEANED DOWN TO PICK UP THE BALL, YOUNG ARMSTRONG HEARD MRS. GORSKY SHOUTING AT MR.GORSKY, "SEX! YOU WANT SEX?! YOU'LL GET SEX WHEN THE KID NEXT DOOR WALKS ON THE MOON!" IT BROKE THE PLA CE UP. NEIL ARMSTRONG'S FAMILY HAVE CONFIRMED THIS TO BE A TRUE STORY. HOUMOR - (GOOD, BAD and CORNY) I was sitting on a bench in the park next to a homeless man, I asked him how he ended up this way. He said: Up until Last week, I still had it all!!! A cook, cooked my meals, my room was cleaned, my clothes were washed, pressed, I had a roof over my head, I had TV, internet, I went to the gym, the pool, the library, I could still go to school. I asked him, "What happened? Drugs? Alcohol? Divorce? Oh No, nothing like that he said. No, no ... I got out of prison. WANTED – I’m appealing to Members who went to New Zealand for photos for our Web Page Gallery. Photos of G.P. Members on tour, if possible. If you could email them it would be appreciated.
