BBC News
BBC News presenter Reeta Chakrabarti came with her film crew and filmed at the school on Wednesday
this week, as part of the BBC coverage for The Queen’s 90th Birthday celebrations. The piece was on the
main BBC evening news at 6pm on Thursday. See the link to the video on our website:
http://kesacademy.co.uk/bbc-news-feature-kes-for-queens-birthday/
The students were their main focus and Reeta spent quite a long time interviewing them in the main hall.
Most of the other footage taken was outside the front of the main building, fortunately the sun was shining!
Several students were involved:
Aaron Butler EY8 Y10
Matthew Bowen LS3 Y9
Freddie Laws EY6 Y8
Isobel Mitchell KT5 Y10
James Wharf GW11 Y11
Freddie Laws was the main focus of the aired piece in the end, with Hannah Hodges; last year’s Gold
Medal Winner, also appearing.
The Students did incredibly well and really impressed Reeta Chakrabarti, and we were hugely proud to
have been asked to be involved in this national piece.

Well done to LS1 for an outstanding attendance this week, also to LS2 – to come second with an
attendance of 97.9% is also pretty impressive!
There are 2 winners of student of the week this week, Alice Gill and Erikas Kutko, well done to both of you
and keep up the good work.
I’d also like to give a special mention to Nathan Smalls in LS6. Last weekend Nathan represented Norfolk
at the indoor sportshall Nationals. He achieved a PB in his speed bounce and was the fastest Norfolk boy
in the two lap. What an excellent achievement Nathan well done.
Year 11’s – there are still a few school year photos waiting to be collected from the house office. Also,
please remember to buy your prom tickets – don’t forget vivos can be used towards the payment too.
Have a good weekend
