Introduction
SYSTEM NOTES
We recommend your Multimedia
System is used when the ignition is
turned on and the engine is
running. If it is used at other times,
care needs to be taken to avoid
draining the battery.
In addition to DVD video discs, you
will be able to play video CDs,
SVCDs and audio CDs (including
MP3).
FORD 7500
This system will operate for 30
minutes after the ignition is turned
off. A "TIME EXPIRED" warning
banner will appear on the screen
for 5 seconds. If the system is used
when the ignition is off, care needs
to be taken to avoid draining the
battery.
INFRARED HEADPHONES
For remote control and infrared
headphones use only batteries of
type AAA, 1.5V. Follow the local
regulations regarding the correct
disposal of used batteries. Do not
burn them under any
circumstances.
2
MONDEO AND GALAXY
This system will only operate when
your Ford audio unit is switched
on. When you turn off the ignition,
the Multimedia System is also
turned off after a short delay. When
the ignition is turned on again, the
system switches on and resets itself
to the media type last selected.
S-MAX AND NEW GALAXY
This system will operate for 60
minutes after the ignition is turned
off. A warning banner will appear
on the screen near the end of the
60 minute period. If the system is
used when the ignition is off, care
needs to be taken to avoid draining
the battery.
Note:
Depending on the Ford audio unit
fitted, the Multimedia System may
be operated in the one hour timed
mode with the ignition switched
off. See your Ford Audio Operating
Guide for further information.
Operating the system for periods
exceeding the one hour may drain
the battery.

SEAT POSITIONS (GALAXY
MULTIMEDIA SYSTEMS ONLY)
If your vehicle is fitted with
rotating front seats, you should not
use this feature if you have a
Multimedia System installed as this
may cause damage to the centre
console.
If the centre seat of the second row
of seats is to be fully folded, the
head restraint should be removed
to prevent a touch condition of the
Multimedia centre console and the
head restraint. (See Galaxy
Owner’s Guide.)

Introduction
WARNING – If the glass
display screen breaks, do not
touch the liquid crystalline
material. In case of contact with
skin, wash immediately with soap
and water.
Do not insert foreign objects into
the disc mechanism.
The Multimedia System is a highgrade laser product which uses a
visible laser beam. If this is
handled incorrectly it can emit
dangerous rays. Do not attempt to
look through any openings in the
equipment into the interior.
Do not operate video games and
video equipment if the power
cords or cables are broken, split or
damaged.
CAUTION – Avoid touching the
screen and do not expose the
liquid crystal display to direct
sunlight or intensive ultraviolet
rays for extended time periods.
Ultraviolet rays cause the liquid
crystal deteriorate.
Do not clean the system with
solvents or aerosol cleaning
agents. Use only a damp cloth.
Do not apply excessive force to
the screen.
4
Do not insert more than one disc
into the mechanism.
Use only 12 cm discs.
Avoid touching auxiliary input
sockets with your fingers. Do not
blow on them or allow them to get
wet or dirty.
Do not attempt to open up the
device itself – your Ford Dealer
will be happy to assist you if the
equipment should develop any
faults.
Improper use of settings and other
connections than those presented
here can cause damage to the
equipment.

RECORDING THE KEYCODE
When you take delivery of your

stolen.
Keep the card in a safe place, not
inside your vehicle. If you lose the
Keycode, contact your local Ford
Dealer and supply details of your
unit along with some proof of
identity. Your Dealer will then
obtain the correct code from Ford
Motor Company.

DVD PLAYER MP3 FEATURES
The unit will play conventional CD
audio tracks and tracks recorded in
MP3 format. It will automatically
detect which type of disc is loaded
and will respond accordingly.
Typically, MP3 discs have the
potential to hold a great deal more
music than a conventional CD
because each track can be
compressed to a higher degree
during recording.
If you record your own music, each
session must be properly closed,
but the whole disc does not have to
be finalised. As a result, recordable
(CD/R) and rewriteable (CD/RW)
discs can be used in this unit.
CAUTION: Copyright laws
vary from country to
country; please check the laws in
your country if you want to record
from copyright source material.
56
When a compact disc is loaded into
the unit, the display will show
'DISC LOADING' while the unit
scans the disc. The time this takes
will depend entirely on the number
of tracks, files, folders and sessions
on the disc.

Helpful Hints
Media Disc Quality
As with all media player systems
currently produced, the system will
only provide satisfactory
performance using discs meeting
the appropriate specifications. This
Ford Rear Seat Entertainment unit
will only play media that conforms
to the International Red Book
Standard specification.
Playback of self-made media
cannot be guaranteed because
readability is dependant on the
type and quality of the recordable
media and the burning software of
the CD writer.
Some manufacturer’s copy
protected discs do not
conform to this standard and
playback cannot be guaranteed.
Irregular shaped discs, dirty,
damaged, over-thick discs and
discs with a scratch protection
film or self adhesive labels should
not be used.
Jammed Disc
In the unlikely event that a disc
fails to eject, or locks up the disc
player , turn off the unit (if the disc
is still trying to be read, you may
have to wait 2 to 3 minutes to do
this).
Once the unit is powered off, press
the eject button and remove the
disc when it ejects.
If the disc will still not eject, please
contact your Ford dealer.
Discs not meeting the International
Red Book Standard are the likely
reason that a disc has failed to
eject, or locked up the system.
Signal System
This Ford Rear Seat Entertainment
system is configured for PAL
format. NTSC media can be played
by changing the format in the DVDset-up menu.

Care and Attention
CAUTION/WARNING
RISK OF ELECTRICAL
SHOCK.
Do not open any of the Rear Seat
Entertainment system components.
Care should always be taken when
using any power supplies
introduced into your vehicle. No
assurances can be given on
equipment not provided with the
vehicle at the time of delivery, or
supplied by a Ford dealer.
CAUTION
To reduce the risk of electrical
shock, do not remove DVD cover
(or back).
SYSTEM AND DISC
CARE
Avoid exposing the headphones,
remote control or discs to direct
sunlight or heat for extended
periods of time.
Hold discs at the edges or centre
only to avoid contamination and do
not restrict disc movement during
loading and unloading. Discs should
be removed from the player after
use and stored in their original
cases away from heat sources to
prevent damage or bending and
contamination by dust and dirt.
Dirty discs should be cleaned
before inserting into the player.
No user-serviceable parts inside.
Refer servicing to qualified service
personnel.
Writing on discs or attaching
adhesive labels is not
recommended.
The lightning flash with arrowhead
symbol within an equilateral
triangle is intended to alert the
user to the presence of uninsulated
‘dangerous voltage’ within the
product’s enclosure that may be of
sufficient magnitude to constitute a
risk of electric shock to persons.
Dirty or damaged disks can, in
severe cases, prevent reading of
the media, and can also generate
background noise from the DVD
unit itself. If this is encountered,
please ensure that the disc is clean,
free from fingerprints and other
surface contaminants. In the event
that damage or surface marking is
too severe and these symptoms
persist, the disc will not be usable.
WARNING: TO PREVENT FIRE
OR SHOCK HAZARD, DO NOT
EXPOSE THIS UNIT TO RAIN
OR MOISTURE.
CAUTION: The Rear Seat
Entertainment system should be
used with DC 12 V only. To prevent
electrical shocks and fire hazards,
DO NOT use any other power
source.
Humidity or temperature changes
may cause temporary disc reading
errors.
Disc reading problems caused by
dirt on the DVD drive may be
rectified using a commercially
available proprietary cleaning CD
or DVD.
