Our Annual Christmas Concert was a great success! Over 150
attendees were treated to music from both of our choirs, handbells,
organ and guest musicians. Young children were entertained in the parish hall
by making ornaments for our tree. Over one thousand dollars was collected in
the free-will offering which went to the Boys and Girls Club. Thank you to all of
you who contributed to the event!

with crisp Black Forest prosciutto, German onion tart, Greisbrei
(German cream of wheat), Raspberry Linzer Danish, Christmas Stollen (cake), Yoghurt w/ kirsh (cherries). Plus American favorites:

Annual Pledge Campaign - Saint James' needs only six more pledges to
achieve its goal of 150 pledging households. The Stewardship Committee
continues to give thanks for the financial commitment of so many members to
next year's mission and ministry.
Also, through December we will have pledge envelopes available in the Parish
Hall for those who prefer to use these for your offering on Sundays. If you would
like to use envelopes and your name is not on one of the boxes, please tell
Laura Cline, the Parish Accountant.
Online Pledging Now Available! We have added a new online pledging section
to the St. James’ website. If you have lost your original pledge card or want to
establish a new pledge for our 2014 operating budget, please visit
www.saintjameswarrenton.org and search for the GIVE tab on the banner at the
top of the homepage. Under the GIVE tab you will find a link to “Pledge to St.
James’”. Use this link to complete a brief online form for your 2014 pledge that
will be delivered to Parish Accountant Laura Cline within minutes! If you prefer
completing a hardcopy pledge form, additional blank copies can be found in the
back of the sanctuary or right outside the parish hall. Thank you to everyone who
has already turned in a pledge card for 2014! Colin Borgstrom - Treasurer

Take that Photo - This winter the Stewardship Committee will be asking
households to submit a photo for the revised directory to be published. No
matter your preference- a formal Christmas Day portrait or a close-up at the
beach, please be thinking about a photograph that everybody will recognize and that will help us develop those remarkable bonds of affection.
2014 Supper Club – In response to parishioners who have expressed
interest in taking part, the Supper Club committee has formed 9 groups,
each headed by a leader. There are approximately 8 persons in a group.
The leader will be in touch with persons in his/her group to arrange a time
and place for the initial meal – ideally getting underway in January. The
committee is certain that each and every participant will enjoy the experience. Anyone who has not signed up and wishes to participate as an
occasional substitute, don’t hesitate to call Richard Gookin on 347-2919 or
Ed Wright on 349-7274.
Please join us on December 29th to hear The Rev. Jay Pierce speak at
both services about the ministry providing direct relief to the poor
throughout Latin America and the Caribbean. Fr. Pierce will share what he
has witnessed about Food for the Poor’s mission to care for the destitute
as a means of living out the Gospel mandate to love one another. Fr. Pierce
was ordained in 1975 for the Diocese of Lexington. He served as Executive
Director for Hospice and Chairman of the Board of Trustees for St. Agnes
House. Please join in welcoming Fr. Pierce.
Soroti Sponsors - We need to have your checks by the end of the year
to forward them for next year’s tuition. Please make your checks payable to St. James Episcopal Church and write “Soroti” on the memo line
of your check.
Did you know: that parishioners Gina Farrar, Lauren Lawson, Karla MacKimmie, and Penny Dart,
who are also members of the Warrenton Garden Club, helped SJES elementary students with a
Christmas craft project? The ladies assisted the students in an after-school class in which they
created a boxwood centerpiece that resembles a Christmas tree.
In your prayers this week please remember:
Those in our parish family who are ill, injured, infirm or recovering, especially Grace, Iris, Peter, Tim, Mark,
Mi Cha and Tom.
Those in our extended family who are in need of prayer, especially Mark, Ray, Jack, and Kim.
Those who are serving in the armed forces and are deployed in harm’s way, especially Tom, James, Michael,
Eric, Douglas and Helen.
Those who are homeless, hungry or unemployed.
The special needs and concerns of our congregation.
Those who mourn.
The flowers on the Altar are offered
to the Glory of God
and in loving memory of
