Penn State Brandywine located in Media, PA is seeking a Director of Student Affairs and
Engagement. This position provides strategic direction, oversight, and operational management for the
Student Affairs Department which holds responsibility for campus life, health services, student
counseling services, athletics, intramural and recreation sports, student government, judicial affairs,
conduct standards, and campus climate. In this role, one will demonstrate advanced skills in budget
management, business development, communications, leadership, and execution of objectives critical
to campus success; serve as key member of campus senior leadership team engaged in strategic
planning, decision-making, enrollment management, policy development, enforcement, and problem
solving for campus-wide issues; develop, implement, and evaluate student affairs and engagement
policies and procedures; work in collaboration with various academic and support units to plan, develop,
coordinate, and deliver student programs and services that assist students in the successful completion
of their academic goals and actively engages them in out-of-classroom experiences; evaluate and
support student engagement programs and initiatives that promote strong commitment to inclusionary
practices reinforcing diversity, transparency, safety, and environmental consciousness throughout the
University; lead efforts to promote and maintain a welcoming, inclusive, accessible, and supportive
curricular and co-curricular campus learning environment; foster a climate of proactive engagement and
collaboration between students, faculty, staff, and the local community; actively support service-related
learning opportunities which bring together students, faculty, staff, and the local community; serve on
various campus and/or University-wide committees; serve as the administrative advocate for the
welfare of students; advise student government association and provide leadership guidance for student
initiatives; demonstrate sound judgment by considering Penn State values, risks, impacts, and
implications throughout the University; resolve complex, controversial, and sensitive issues and
problems involving students; direct the management of and response to student crisis situations;
oversee performance management, coaching, and professional development of staff and hold staff
accountable for work performance and goal achievement. This job will be filled as a level 3, or level 4,
depending upon the successful candidate's competencies, education, and experience. Typically requires
a Master’s degree plus four years of work related experience, or an equivalent combination of education
and experience for a level 3. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for
higher level jobs. Doctorate preferred. Penn State requires successful completion of a background check
