Dear Parents/Carers
As we come to the end of our Spring term we look forward to the Easter break and hope that
all of our families enjoy this special time together.
On Tuesday our Year 1 children performed their fabulous production ‘An Easter
Egg-Stravaganza’. This included a variety of songs, rhymes and dance. The finale had the
parents up and singing ‘It’s a Spring Chicken’. I was very proud how these little Year 1’s
performed, they spoke very clearly and remembered all their lines.
Today our KS1 children have been on their school trip to Mountfitchet Castle and our Year
3’s have visited King’s Baptist Church to learn the Easter story as part of their Religious
Education. They have all had a fantastic day and behaved impeccably.
I would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a very happy Easter and to remind you
that the children are due back to school on Tuesday 12th April.
‘People Who Help Us’
This half term our topic in Reception has been ‘People Who Help Us’. On
Tuesday, as part of this topic, Cygnets, Goslings and Ducklings had two
special visitors – Kate and Ian who are police officers!
They told us all about their jobs and what they have to
do each day. The children were especially interested in
how they catch robbers! Kate and Ian let us try on two
different types of hats police officers wear and told us
about how important it is to know our names and where we live so the police can
help us if we get lost.
Huge congratulations to our fabulous gymnasts and a big thank you as well to Mrs Saunders,
Mrs Smith, Lucy Gifford, Rebecca Gifford and Elle McGregor for
all their hard work and commitment in preparing for the recent
Key Steps Gymnastic Festival which took place in March. I am
delighted to announce that both KS1 came 1st and 2nd in their
group and KS2 came 1st and 3rd in their group. Our KS2
gymnasts then proceeded to the County Final which took place in
Leighton Buzzard. Overall our
KS2 came 4th out of 6 schools.
This is an amazing achievement and one of which we are very
proud.

If a child of compulsory school age is registered at a school it is essential that they attend school regularly and maintain a pattern of good
attendance throughout their school career.
Excellent attendance at school is important to allow a child or young person to fulfil their potential.
Below are just some of the key reasons why it is so important children attend school:









To learn
To have fun
To make new friends
To experience new things in life
To develop awareness of other cultures, religion, ethnicity and gender differences.
To achieve
To build confidence and self-esteem
To gain qualifications
To develop new skills to have the best possible start in life
Young people who regularly miss school without good reason are more likely to become isolated from their friends and to underachieve in
examinations.

On Tuesday 11 year 2 children
went to Samuel Whitbread
Academy with Miss Ashby.
They participated in a range of
different multi skills activities
and worked together to win
points for our school. The
children all tried their best and
we came 3rd out of 8 schools.
Well done everyone, you
represented Roecroft
wonderfully!
