MC2 Reflection

MC2 Reflection
Reflection happens during and after every learning opportunity. It is a valued structure throughout
the learning cycle, it's explicitly planned in the learning design of our opportunities, and is the necessary
means of documenting work in digital work areas.
The most basic series of reflection prompts includes:

What?
What did you do? "Just the facts."

So What?
So what does this mean? What are you taking away? What did you learn?

Now What?
How will you take this learning forward? What future steps do you want/need to make? How will you
address future challenges or opportunities?
EOD (End of Day)
At the end of each school day (except Friday – see EOW), each learner is expected to write a 200 word
(minimum) reflective message describing the school day, and accounting for their learning and behavior.
The EOD should end with a productivity rating on a scale of 1-5 (1= unproductive, 5= very productive).
EODs should be completed using the EOD portal, but when necessary, can be handwritten or emailed.
Click here for EOD portal instructions.
Most MC2 structures have a "snowball effect" whereby, if a learner keeps up with the smaller, daily
versions of a requirement, they have a cumulative effect for preparing for larger requirements.
For Example:
1. End of Days -> End of Weeks -> Work Samples -> Portfolios and
2. End of Days -> End of Weeks -> 100 Page Autobiography
End of Day reflections are the "canary in the coal mine" of requirements. If a student is not keeping up
with End of Days, it is often a red flag to the advisor and parents/guardians.
Example EOD template, for one of my more concrete learners.
Please use complete sentences for each of these questions. Thanks.
Start off by telling us what goals you for this week.
Why did you choose the goals you set for today?
Did you meet all your daily goals?
Why, or why not?
What happened during Advisory/Morning Meeting?
How did you participate in the activity?
What did you learn?
What habits did you exhibit well? Why?
What habits could you improve with? Why did you pick those?
What happened during your first class?
How did you engage in the class?
What did you learn? What did you already know?
What habits did you exhibit well? Why?
What habits could you improve with? Why did you pick those?
Did lunch include any Poor Behavior Choices?
What happened during your second class?
How did you engage in the class?
What did you learn? What did you already know?
What habits did you exhibit well? Why?
What habits could you improve with? Why did you pick those?
How was the day overall?
If you had PBCs, what did you do to resolve these issues?
How would you rate it 1-5 (1=unproductive, 5= very productive).
How do you think you did with your daily goals? Did you make progress on your weekly goals?
Do your goals need tweaking? Why or why not?
What work do you plan on doing tonight?
What will you work on tomorrow?
EOW (End of Week)
At the end of a school week, typically on Friday, learners are expected to write a 500 word (minimum)
reflection about their learning over the past week. They are expected to identify highlights of the week, set
goals for the upcoming week, and identify tasks that need to be addressed. The EOW should be e-mailed
to the advisor, parents, and to the Director.
