Many of our limited English proficient students have insufficient knowledge of the English language to support their learning. Describe activities and tasks. Who is the target population and in what ways will they benefit? (500 words or less.) The ESL teacher will work with small groups using the program materials 2 3 times a week. We will work with our newcomers and ESL students who have not made yearly progress on TELPAS. Each kit will provide ample opportunity to practice listening, speaking, reading, and writing as they develop oral language and make progress towards grade level mastery. (500 words or less) The program has an assessment element that will be given at the beginning of each kit to identify the students oral proficiency language levels. The goal is to increase listening and speaking ratings on TELPAS. Teaching Methods What teaching methods will be used to implement this project? (500 words or less.) In a small group, the teacher will use engaging photos to encourage discussion about the photos. The teacher will record their ideas for the group to read back, modeling writing their thinking in a complete sentence. Timeline What is the project timeline and the date of implementation? We will begin the program in the fall of 2016 and continue with it throughout the year.
