A Night In The Garden
Join us on May 18th for our first CASA Garden
event as the gates of the Garden are opened at night! A lot
of work has gone into preparing the garden for its nightly
debut. Come out and see the Garden all dressed up!
This will be a special night of entertainment,
and food under the stars at the CASA Garden. Lyn’s
Gracious Goodness will be providing menu items made
from locally grown produce, plus entertainment will be
provided by the local band Crossfire.
Funds raised from this event will help continue
our mission of serving seniors and homebound in Madison
County. Please spread the word, as you are our BEST
advocates! Hope you can make it out for “A Night in the
Garden.”
Garden ADDRESS: 4725 Bob Wallace Avenue,
next to the Botanical Gardens, west of the
intersection of Bob Wallace and Jordan Lane.

Frequently Asked Question #3
Do I have to volunteer everyday?
“NO”
We want you to have a wonderful experience volunteering with CASA of Madison County. Therefore all of
our programs are driven by YOU! If you are unavailable when a volunteer request goes out, you can simply
say “No.” We respect the time you want to spend doing
other things besides the wonderful work you do with our
organization. If there is ever a time that you feel we are
not calling you enough, please let us know! We never
want to use a volunteer more then they are comfortable
with and we look to you to guide us as to how often you
may be available to assist the seniors and homebound in
Madison County. Thank you for all you do!

Thank you to the donors who
aided us in acquiring more
Durable Medical Equipment
through the donation of items
or funds. We have been able
to contact many of the clients
we had previously turned away
to let them know we could
fill their need. The clients were thrilled to get the good
news!!! The generosity of our donors made that happen.
Please continue to remember CASA if you come across
durable medical equipment not being used, that is new
or in very good condition. Contact our office and we can
let you know if we could use the items. Thank you!

Calling All Volunteers
Will you answer the call? We always appreciate
our volunteers, however we need more volunteers to
appreciate!
We have several areas of need; so if you, or somebody
you know, is looking for volunteering opportunities we
may have what you are looking for!
Below are a few of the opportunities we need to fill:
Garden Delivery: Volunteers deliver fresh produce to
the homes of our clients. Deliveries occur on Mondays,
Wednesdays and Fridays. This service promotes a
healthier diet for a healthier lifestyle among our aging
clients.
Garden Team Leaders: Lead groups and individuals
while working in the CASA Garden during regular
volunteer work days. If you enjoy being outside and have
a passion for gardening, this is for YOU!
Groups and Individuals for the Garden: Come one,
come All! Garden volunteer working days are Tuesdays
and Thursdays 3:00pm to 5:00pm and Saturdays 8:00am
Page 2
to 12:00pm. You can work any
length of time during those hours.
Ramp Team Leaders: Ramps are
in high demand, as always, and we
need to keep up with the demand.
In order to meet the needs of the
seniors and homebound we need
more Ramp Team Leaders! Are
you willing to train with our current Ramp Team Leaders
and then take on their own team to increase our ability to
have more ramps built? If the answer is yes, we need to
hear from you soon!
Ramp Teams: If your group wants to volunteer,
this would be a great project! Most builds are done on
Saturdays, but you make the schedule. Groups let us
know the date and we find the client.
For more information about any of these opportunities
contact Jessica in the CASA office.

“Alabama Gives Day” was a
success in more than just the
dollars raised. Not only did
we reach our goal of $5,000
but CASA of Madison County
was featured in the local media
several times throughout the
campaign. We received great
coverage and utilized this event
to promote our mission and raise awareness.
“Alabama Gives Day,” held on February 2nd, 2012, was
a 24 hour online blitz of giving hosted by the Alabama
Nonprofits Association an the fundraising website Razoo.
com. The ANA provided media support and produced
television commercials to promote the event. The CASA
staff hosted an Open House at our office, where we
enjoyed the day spending time with various supporters
and volunteers.
