Whoever will, let them come to the Kingdom Feast. The Ushers will direct us. Teams of communion
servers will serve in the pews those who are physically unable to come to the Altar Rail.
We follow an ancient Christian custom. We bring a special offering with us to the altar. We give over and
beyond our tithes and offerings. We give sacrificially to symbolize the Cross. We give generously as a sign
of new life. We give saying, “WE CLAIM THE NAME of Jesus the Christ.”
We are all invited to join in the songs and prayers, until all have received the symbols of grace.

A PRAYER MEDITATION
FOR ALL SAINTS DAY
by Safiyah Fosua
We give you thanks, O God, for all the saints
who ever worshiped you;
whether in brush arbors or cathedrals,
weathered wooden churches
or crumbling cement meeting houses;
where your name was lifted and adored.
We give you thanks, O God,
for hands lifted in praise:
manicured hands and hands stained
with grease or soil,
strong hands and those gnarled with age
holy hands used as wave offerings
across the land.
We thank you, God, for hardworking saints;
whether hard-hatted or steel-booted,
head ragged or aproned,
blue-collared or three-piece-suited
they left their mark on the earth for you,
for us, for our children to come.
Thank you, God, for the tremendous sacrifices
made by those who have gone before us.
bless the memories of your saints, God.
May we learn how to walk wisely
from their examples
of faith, dedication, worship, and love.

STEWARDSHIP:
CONTINUOUS & COLLECTIVE COMMITMENT
As we consider stewardship education and strategies for
Holman, we invite you in to the following adjustment
understanding and behavior:
Seasonal to continual – Having an ongoing conversation about
generosity and giving. Stewardship should not be the focus
of only two to three weeks in the fall, but a continuous
conversation.
Scarcity to abundance – Instead of talking about what Holman
doesn’t have, we are invited to talk about how blessed we are,
and how we impact lives. People are more motivated to give
out of a grateful heart.
Purse to purpose – Instead of focusing on how to get people’s
money, focus on how Holman gives people a purpose for
their lives. Our purpose is to touch and transform lives.
Numbers to narrative – Rather than showing charts illustrating
dollars and deficits, we invite Holmanites to tell stories of how
the church is blessing and changing their lives.
Mortar to mission – While maintenance has its place, we invite
a cultural shift from an emphasis on maintaining the building to
enthusiasm for growing in mission and ministry.
Enhancing and advancing Holman’s stewardship strategy will
take time. It will not just be about raising money. It will also be
about changing people’s mindsets. Our stewardship strategy is
built on the spirituality that we serve a God of abundance.
We encourage joy in giving. In the words of John Wesley,
“Earn all you can. Save all you can. Give all you can.”

PROFIT FROM GOOD DEEDS
Once again, congress is allowing individuals
70½ and older to transfer up to $100,000 from an
IRA directly to charity. The donation could count
toward a required minimum distribution. You
won’t be able to deduct the contribution, but this
maneuver will lower your AGI compared with
taking a taxable distribution and donating it to
charity.
Also, donating appreciated stocks or mutual
funds from a taxable account to charity offers
several benefits. You avoid the tax on the gain as
well as the addition to AGI and taxable income
that would come from a sale. You get a
deduction of the full market value of the
securities (assuming you have owned them for
more than a year). And because the securities no
longer generate income, you will reduce your
taxable investment income going forward.

¡FELIZ 3
DE NOVIEMBRE!
Celebrating our Diversity with Our
Panamanian Brothers and Sisters
Panamá, officially the Republic of Panamá, is a
Latin American country in Central America. It is one of
the few countries in the world that celebrates three
independence dates. The first one was on November
28, 1821.
On this date, Panamá celebrated its
independence from Spain, along with several other
South American nations. On November 3, 1903,
Panamá celebrated its independence from Colombia
with the helping hand of the United States who was
interested in signing a treaty with Panamá to build a
canal in the isthmus. Finally, on September 7, 1977,
Panamá celebrated its independence from the United
States, when General Omar Torrijos and Jimmy Carter
signed the Panamá Canal Treaty which relinquished
full jurisdiction of the Panamá Canal Zone to the
Republic of Panamá. After this date, Panamá regained
full control of all its territory. At last Panamá was a
fully independent country capable of carving its own
destiny.
November is the month of the motherland. During
this patriotic month, there are echoes of bugles and
drums from the Costa Rican to the Colombian border.
Thousands of students put on their best uniforms to
participate in solemn parades in all the corners of the
isthmus.
