You won't want to leave Tordesillas without visiting its most
emblematic buildings, the Casas del Tratado (Treaty Houses),
located on a high spot with a view of the Douro River, next to San
Antolín Church. The houses are two connected palaces dating
from the 15th and 17th centuries, and they have been declared a
site of cultural interest. One of them, the older of the two, was
the location of the signing of the famous Treaty of Tordesillas,
with which Spain and Portugal divided up the territories of the
New World.
There are a number of leisure options available in the area
around the city. You will find locations offering karting, paintball
and ATVs within just a few kilometers. If you like river-based
tourism, you can navigate the Pisuerga River and Catilla Canal,
located 45 km away. Another option is winery tourism, as
Tordesillas is near four of the most important designations of

The municipality is located some 30 kilometers from the
provincial capital of Valladolid, at a strategic crossing over the
Douro River.
Tordesillas was the location of the royal court and a prison for
Queen Joanna of Castile, daughter of the Catholic Monarchs. She
died while imprisoned in the town for state reasons. The city
