This amendment was the first federal law to prohibit sex discrimination against students and employees of educational institutions. Dawn explained that sexual harassment and assaults fall under Title IX. Her goal is to investigate, stop, remedy and prevent sexual assaults on campus as well as to educate students and employees. To help inform students a two hour online educational module called, “Think About It”, will become a requirement for students in the Fall 2015 semester and an informative brochure will soon be available. Students should be aware of how to request help, report and work through their options on how to proceed with incidents. More information can be obtained at http://titleix.uncc.edu/about-title-ix . Responsible employees and any member of the community can complete an incident form located at http://incidentreport.uncc.edu. On the last page of the form, there is a confidentiality box to check, if the student wishes. Even if not checked, the IX Coordinator and/or deputy will be very discreet. For further information, please visit the Title IX website. IV. Approval of Meeting Minutes The minutes from October 1, 2014 were reviewed. A motion was made by Sherry Bruce and seconded by Keisha Martin to approve the minutes for October 1, 2014 meeting. The minutes were unanimously approved. V. Treasurer’s Report, Kimi Tippett, Treasurer See attachments: 11-01-14 SC State Financial Statement 11-01-14 SC Discretionary Financial Statement Fall Festival 2014 Expenses VI. President’s Report Welcome to the new Area 8 representative, Cathy Moore and the new alternate for Area 18, Rachel Folds. Jim would like to put out a survey for the Fall Festival. Please submit to him in writing questions you feel would be beneficial. These questions should be brief. Give your response on how you feel about the possibility of having the Fall Festival held on the weekend thus giving employees more time to spend at the festival. The goal is to have the survey sent to area reps by the end of this week. Golden Nugget program is ready to roll out. The first two Golden Nugget Awards have been given to the Chancellor and his Chief of Staff, Krista Newkirk at the Board of Trustees meeting in October. Executive Order: All reps are to nominate two people in your areas. Go to the website to submit your nominations the first week of December. This will begin the process and “plant the seeds”. Area reps will take the award to the nominated employees. This also gives the representative the opportunity to meet area employees. Emeritus Program for UNC Charlotte is being considered. Please review and a vote will be taken online. Please submit any concerns. The Emeritus Program will be for UNC Charlotte retirees who can be nominated. Once approved, these individuals could be given an award with a photo taken with the Chancellor at the Staff Recognition Luncheon. All representatives should vote. The Chancellor will cover Salary Banding in our December Staff Council meeting. Put any questions together for this session. “Food for Thought”: (a) Jim will initiate talks with any concerns and speak with the SCA and Faculty Council - “Coffee with the Councils”; (b) Working on a possible spring event to honor previous presidents called “Past Presidents Day”. Inclement Weather Policy will be discussed. Beginning January 2015, all non-essential employees will have to take personal leave or be allowed to make up time missed in the same pay period if possible or 90 days of the inclement weather closure.
