As the traffic situation changes from hour to hour, the
urban traffic control application adapts its strategy in
real time to the actual situation, even in unpredictable
traffic conditions.
Effective traffic management on highways and in
tunnels is a necessity in the light of continuously
increasing traffic volumes.
Convenient personal mobility is a critical factor for the
prosperity of national economies. Over the last 100
years the car has become the ultimate expression
of personal mobility, and with its over 70% share in
journeys exceeding 5 kilometers, it will remain an
indispensable traffic mode for many years to come.
Intelligently controlled street lighting, with the
possibility to adapt the amount of light to actual
road and traffic conditions, helps reduce energy
consumption and improves the useful life of the
luminaires.
The system constantly monitors and forecasts
the traffic status and optimizes the signal control
according to traffic flow efficiency, environmental
conditions and other strategic decisions defined by
the road authorities.
The HIGHWAYS AND TUNNELS solutions improve
road network efficiency, reliability and safety by
applying various control measures. The system can,
for example, close one or more lanes on a stretch of
road during roadworks or expand the capacity during
rush hour, utilizing the hard shoulder as an extra lane.
The activation of the adapted strategies is executed
by either a library of pre-defined plans or a real-time
fully adaptive mode, depending on the ideal solution
for the specific site. The signal control application also
prioritizes specific vehicles, such as buses, trams and
emergency vehicles, without penalizing other traffic.
On top of the advanced control functions, the
solutions also offer several ways to automatically
detect incidents, collect traffic data and inform drivers
via variable message signs or C2X communication.
This reduces travel times and helps to prevent
accidents.
At peak times up to 25% of city traffic can be vehicles
in search of a vacant parking space, thus causing
congestion, emissions and stress.
Making it easier for drivers to find parking spaces is
key to reducing their stress and improving the flow
