NEWSLETTER – April 2016 March was yet again another exciting month. We enjoyed a week for Spring break and lost an hour to our annual time change and we still managed to fill every day with instructive, fun and stimulating activities. I would like to extend a special note of appreciation to all the teachers who are holding enriching, educational and “fun” lunch hour activities for all of Bancroft’s students; and I would like to thank the many parents who are volunteering in our classrooms alongside our teachers. SCHOOL PLAY Preparations for our annual musical are in high gear! And this year the production of The Lion King Jr. promises to be spectacular. Children are practicing their songs and dance moves and “flocks” of parents are painting, sewing and crafting this year’s costumes and stage set up. Our Saturday play painting blitz allowed us to set the scene(s)! Please reserve your seats, both for our spectacular dinner theatre and/or show well in advance, as this production promises to be a SOLD OUT event!!! Play dates are April 19th and 21st. STORYTELLING We hosted our very own Storytelling Festival/Competition at Bancroft on March 30th. Cycle 3 students performed their English and French stories for a panel of guest judges and Bancroft students. The judges selected two winners, Meva Doyen and Griphon Hobby-Ivanovici, and two runners up, Konstantinos Floros and Meva Doyen, to represent Bancroft at the Annual EMSB Storytelling Festival held on April 5th at Sinclair Laird School. We wish them well! ROBOTICS The students, as part of their ‘Science et technologie’ program, have started their fabulous journey into the world of Robotics. They have learned how to build and program moving robots, and this year some of our cycle 2 & 3 students will be participating and competing in the Junior Robotics Competition scheduled for April 29th and 30th at Vanier College. A big thank you to Mr. Charles for getting our team ready! And a big thank you to all parent volunteers. Please come out to the competition and support and cheer our students on!
