Print Dragon Dictation Basics Guide Use this document to assist practicing navigation of the Dragon menu and when correcting and editing in Dragon. This training material is intended to be used to cover the basics of dictation and Dragon navigation. Not all menu options are covered. Note: This document can be printed or saved. Dragon Toolbar Profile Menu When You Click: Log In/Log out Open User Profile You Will Be Able To: Log in or out of Dragon to enable another user to log in • View the current open Dragon profile • Add a new source or vocabulary Note: You will need to add a new source if you use a headset in training and then use a PowerMic II the next time you log into Dragon. Instructions on how to do this are in the Dragon Dictation Basics Course under Resources Save content created in your session Exit out of Dragon Tools Menu When You Click: Dragon Pad Dictation Box Add New Command You Will Be Able To: Access a basic word processor pad to use when dictating Dictate in applications where voice commands do not work properly Create a new command Note: This topic will be covered during Epic Optimization Manage and edit commands already created Edit the formatting of transcribed text • Edit the formatting of transcribed text in the Correction tab • View different Dragon Modes in the View tab (Docked to Top is the default which will display the Dragon toolbar at the top of the computer screen) • Learn Hotkey keyboard shortcuts in the Hotkeys tab (For example, to turn the microphone on/off. Press the + button on the number pad) • Learn PowerMic II action buttons in Global mode and when using the Dictation box in the PowerMic II tab Command Browser Auto-Formatting Options Options Vocabulary Menu When You Click: Learn From Specific Documents or Emails Add New Word or Phrase You Will Be Able To: Train Dragon to recognize your writing style to improve accuracy. This includes adding contact names from your email to your vocabulary Add new words to your vocabulary and train them to help Dragon improve accuracy when hearing and understanding dictation Import List of Words or Phrases Manage Vocabulary Example: Proper names Import or export a list of words into the vocabulary that you have saved on your computer View the vocabulary used when setting up a voice profile or add a new vocabulary/medical specialty Modes Menu When You Click: Normal Mode Command Mode You Will Be Able To: Dictate normally, using words, sentences, phrases, and voice commands Dictate only commands Note: There are commands and templates included under the Tools menu Command Browser that can be used Simply speak the text under the MyCommand Name heading Audio Menu When You Click: You Will Be Able To: Hear a recording of your dictation using your own voice recognition Playback Note: Place your cursor before the sentence you want to hear Hear a recording of your dictation using system voice recognition Read That Check microphone Improve recognition of word or phrase Read text to improve accuracy Note: Place your cursor before the sentence you want to hear Perform a volume check used during setting up a voice profile Train Dragon to recognize certain words or commands that it frequently mistakes. Remember to click the Train button!
