1. Some requests from Berco:
• Please wash your dishes and keep the kitchen area tidy. It is very difficult for them to clean if
there are dirty dishes scattered over the sink and working area.
• Please scrape your leftovers or any form of food into a plastic bag first before you through it in
the bins. This will help to control the ant problem in some blocks and keep ants from becoming
a problem in your block.
• Please clear the floor of your room before the Berco ladies come in to clean your room. This
means that you should pick up all your clothes and washing from the floor, put your shoes in
your cupboard and remove all items that do not usually belong on the floor, from the floor.
• Please give Ann a key for your room or leave your room unlocked so that the appointed Berco
lady can clean your room. They will lock your room after they have cleaned it, if you leave your
padlock unlocked. Please note on what day your block will be cleaned.

2. Kagiso
As you should know by now, Thursday evening at 18h30 we will have our Henne & Hane function. At
the house meeting the majority of the house voted for the R30 option which is:

Chicken Salad
Main Course: Roasted Beef in Garlic and Rosemary Sauce, Potato Wedges, Pumpkin Fritters,
Creamed Spinach and a Juice
Dessert:
Chocolate Mousse
Please BOOK for Thursday evening! NO BOOKING, NO FOOD.
I have not received any special requests like for a vegetarian meal or so. If you do have a request,
please email your request to me.
Because we will be enjoying such a lovely big meal the evening, lunch will be a light meal. Bring your
blanky and come and enjoy lunch in a relaxing atmosphere, together with all the other Goldies, out in
the sun, on the grass behind the “eetsaal”.
Just a reminder: Please return all cutleries that you have taken from the “eetsaal”.
3. Maintenance
As you will notice, notice boards have been put up the past week. All important notices will appear
there. The HK members are the only people allowed to place notices on the notice boards. ONLY use
pins. DO NOT USE PRESTIK! Keep the notice boards tidy.
Just a reminder: Please do not stick pictures and posters on the walls. If you want to put posters up,
stick them to your cupboards.

write the problem on paper and drop it at my room Toekoms Annex A13.

A few important issues from the Student Security Council (SSC):
• Ladies, do not go walking or jogging alone in the mountain behind Coetzenberg. Please be
alert and always have someone with you, preferably a guy.
•
Do not give money or feed vagrants (bergies) on campus. It might seem rude, but if you do, it
only encourages them to come on campus which is undesirable. There are many services in
town that can help them. (I will provide more info next week)
•
A number of lights on the rooi plein are not working. It is a cable problem and will take time to
fix, so please be alert when you pass through there after sunset.

The Gazette will be there for Goldies to communicate their opinions, emotions, views and reviews
relating or not really relating to Goldfields. The reason for this is because the Gazette isn’t something
about Goldfields; it is more something about the people that lives at Goldfields. The Gazette could
report sports articles, but it could also publish something one Goldie felt to share with the rest.
Therefore, if anyone needs to be heard, do not hesitate but e-mail the article, letter, opinion, etc to
