TCKS Spring 2014 Parent Survey Results
TCKS Assessment Committee: Ann Marcy (chair), Padro Gould (chair-elect), Travis Maynard, Alissa
McEachern, Ken Manning
May 1, 2014
Summary
The results of the 2014 Parent Survey showed a very positive trend. While none of the items showed
statistically significant differences from 2012, the means of the vast majority of questions showed higher
satisfaction. We did have a significantly higher number of parents complete the survey this year which we
take as a positive indication of parent engagement.

This year 187 parents responded to the survey for a total of 221 students (out of 451 currently enrolled at TCKS, a 49%
response rate). This is a large increase in responses from 2012, likely due to the fact that this year the survey
communication was sent in a separate email dedicated to the survey alone. In 2012, 122 parents responded to the
survey for a total of 151 students (out of 453 enrolled at TCKS, a 33% response rate).

2012.
The lowest level of satisfaction:
o Discipline problems are appropriately dealt with at TCKS.
2.12
The highest levels of satisfaction:
o My child has been taught the meaning of the 12 character qualities emphasized at TCKS and has been
given examples from literature and/or real life illustrations.

PILLAR 5: Mature Literacy
1 = Strongly Agree, 2 = Agree, 3 = Neutral
•
•
Satisfaction with the literacy program and the library at TCKS improved since 2012
The percentage of parents who agree that they are well informed about Mature Literacy is unchanged (mean =
2.19). That said, the committee believes that this score reflects that there may be several parents who do not
truly understand what Mature Literacy is. There may be a disparity between perceptions of understanding and
actual understanding.
