Your family is amazing.
We protect you so you
can support them
Guaranteed 50 Plus Life Cover from
OneFamily is a quick, easy and
affordable way to leave a cash lump
sum for the ones you love.
2
How it helps families like yours
We understand how financial priorities change as you get older and how
important it becomes to leave some money that can be passed onto your
loved ones. Lots of people have told us that the main reasons they want to
leave a lump sum are to help pay for their funeral or to buy something special
for their family.
Helping towards funeral costs
We know that no one really likes to
think about it, but the fact is funerals
have to be paid for, and are really
expensive these days. So leaving a
lump sum to help pay for it means
you’ll be easing the financial burden
on those you love at what’s going to
be a very difficult time for them.
Please keep in mind though that a
Guaranteed 50 Plus Life Cover policy
isn’t a funeral plan, and might not
entirely pay for a funeral. So if that’s
what you’d want the money for,
please choose your cover amount
carefully; and bear in mind that
inflation will reduce the value of the
cash sum over the years.
Currently the average cost of a
- burial in the UK is
£5,446
1
- cremation in the UK is
£3,849

And the cost keeps going up,
year after year. The projected
average cost of a burial by
2045 will be
£15,607

money your family might need to pay for your funeral.
Passing on something special
Your cash lump sum could also be put towards something really special for the
family: perhaps a grandchild’s future or a memorable family holiday. Whatever
you have in mind, the money could provide a wonderful legacy. It’s worth
noting though that the lump sum paid out normally forms part of your estate,
so could be subject to inheritance tax.

Funeral funding option – a
free addition to your cover
You’re guaranteed to be eligible as
long as you’re aged between 50
and 80 and a UK resident - even
if you smoke or have existing
medical problems.
If you decide to add our Funeral
Funding Option to your plan, it
means your cash lump sum will
go straight to your chosen funeral
provider to help pay for your funeral.
They’ll also add a £250 contribution
of their own, absolutely free, to
make your money go further.2
Simply choose the level of
cover that suits you and
your family
The cost of cover ranges from just
£10 a month up to £75 per month,
and the guaranteed lump sum your
family will receive depends on how
much you pay every month and your
age when the policy begins. For
example, if you paid in £10 a month
you might leave a few thousand
pounds, while if you paid in £50 a
month you could leave behind a
much larger sum. Your adviser will
be happy to talk you through all of
the options and recommend the
right amount of cover for you.
Our Funeral Funding Option
provides you with a choice of
funeral providers. By choosing one
now you’ll be taking a big decision
off your family’s shoulders at a
difficult time and because we can
release the money without having
to wait for probate – which can
take a long time - your family can
go ahead with your plans without
having to worry about the money
coming through.

Once you choose your monthly
premium, we promise it will never go
up. Your cover will also remain valid as
long as you keep making payments;
though these stop when you reach
90, but your cover keeps going.
Just bear in mind that this isn’t
a savings plan, so if you do stop
paying your premiums before
you’re 90, your cover will end
and you won’t get any money
back. Depending on how long
your premiums are paid, you
could also pay more in than
the plan pays out.

Serious and terminal illness
cover as standard
Other policies of this type only pay out after you’ve gone.
But ours has a totally unique and very helpful difference:
once you’ve paid in for two years, it will pay out if you’re
diagnosed with a serious or a terminal illness.
20% pay-out for a
serious illness
100% pay-out for a
terminal illness
If you’re diagnosed with a serious
illness after two years, you can
claim 20% of your life cover to help
you through what might well be a
difficult time. Don’t worry though,
this still leaves 80% of your cover
intact, which you can claim if you’re
then diagnosed with a terminal
illness, or your family can claim
when you pass away. However, you
can only claim the serious illness
benefit once.
If you’re diagnosed with a terminal
illness after two years or more,
you can claim 100% of your cash
lump sum*. This would give you the
chance to decide how the money
should be spent and perhaps make
your life a little easier too, helping
you to enjoy your time left with
your family rather than worrying
about money.

are living with a serious illness*

* If you’ve already claimed 20% for a serious illness,
you’ll only receive the remaining 80%. Once you have
claimed for terminal illness, the policy will end and you
will no longer be covered

A bit about OneFamily and our Foundation
We’re a bright and forward thinking financial services
business which takes pride in putting you and your
families first. After all, we’re owned by our customers...
and that includes you.
We’re a mutual, which means unlike other financial
services organisations, we don’t pay dividends to
shareholders. Instead, we use a percentage of our
profits to help our customers make a true difference.
That’s why every OneFamily customer can apply
for funding through our Foundation. That could be
a financial helping hand by way of a Personal Grant
up to £1000, or nominating local causes to win a
Community Award of up to £25,000.
