The Geekly with a Twist: April 5th-11th
Hey all. Are you ready for Planet Comicon? I’m sure not. Of course, this means I could potentially
be meeting Wil Wheaton himself within the next 20 hours. Holy moly. Super epic awesomeness. I
know I’m also looking forward to catching a few previous contacts from our visit to Wizard World
St. Louis and, of course, you can stay tuned for all of our coverage. Especially if I manage my
inner fangirl well enough. I might have practice to test this…but, let’s face it, Adam Baldwin,
George Takei, Wil Wheaton, Ray Park, …okay I’m going to quit now, but let’s face it: epic
awesomeness. So, without any more ranting about this weekend, onward with the history!
April 6th, 1973: Pioneer 11, a probe intended to study the asteroid belt, Jupiter, and Saturn, and
eventually the farthest reaches of the solar system, is launched from Cape Canaveral.
April 7th, 2001: The spacecraft currently orbiting Mars, 2001 Mars Odyssey, is launched from
Cape Canaveral.
April 7th, 1946: Stan Winston, the special effects and makeup artist best known for his work on
Terminator, Jurassic Park, Alien, Predator, Iron Man, Edward Scissorhands, and Avatar is born in
Arlington, Virginia.
April 8th, 1980: A woman of most geeks’ dreams, Katee Sackhoff is born in Portland, Oregon.
April 9th, 1978: Someone whose voice resonates in our heads without even realizing it- the voice
actress behind Ash Ketchum, as well as April O’Neil, Veronica Taylor is born in New York.
April 9th, 1982: Jay Baruchel, super Fanboy and hilarious actor, is born in Ottawa.
April 11th, 1974: Yet another dream woman from Battlestar Galactica, Tricia Helfer (Cylon
Number Six) is born in Donalda, Alberta.

1 packet of Emergen-c (or off brand vitamin C supplement) raspberry flavored supplement
8 oz Cranberry-Apple juice
Ice
Mix all ingredients in a tall glass and enjoy! Other great flavor combinations include the
cranberry-pomegranate flavored supplement with cranberry cocktail and raspberry with no pulp
orange juice.
