The Finance Development Program
Building Leaders
One career at a time
San Ramon, California, USA
Develop your skills, realize your
potential, fulfill your dreams.
The opportunity to try
different tasks and the
exposure to different areas
of the corporation helped me
discover the variety of exciting
career paths that are possible
within my areas of interest.
—Molly, San Francisco
State University
Chevron’s Finance Development Program is an
accelerated on-the-job program for career-minded
individuals with leadership potential.
The Program offers a range of challenging “real job” assignments, varied
responsibilities and a working knowledge of our business – all at an accelerated pace
of approximately 18 months. Additionally, Program members need to be flexible, as
assignments can be in varying locations, such as the San Francisco Bay Area, Texas,
Hawaii and overseas.
The rotational assignments
gave me exposure to fastpaced, challenging work
environments where I could
utilize and enhance my skills
and get a broader perspective
of Chevron’s finance functions.
—Ana, California State
University, East Bay
Get your career on the fast track
Structured just for you
Typically, you’re rotated through three job assignments, each lasting approximately
six months, so you are exposed to different areas within Chevron. Most assignments
are in finance. For example, you may find yourself working in the Corporate
Comptroller’s department, Corporate Treasury department, International
Exploration & Production, Domestic Manufacturing & Marketing or the Finance
Shared Services Center, to name a few.
A full-time program director coordinates assignments and training to meet your
needs and to make sure you acquire the experience, knowledge and skills needed
for a successful career. Performance feedback after each assignment is an integral
part of the Program.
A rewarding career
With a competitive industry salary and exceptional benefits, you are well
compensated as you weave your way through the challenges that lie ahead. You
have to be mobile and look at possible geographic relocation as an important part of
your career development.
A formula for success
When the Program is completed, job placement will be based on continuing
your development while aligning with your long-term career interests and open
opportunities. Your career can provide you many dynamic and stimulating positions
that let you move internally, geographically and professionally.
Our in-house training courses continually offer the necessary tools for a growing
career in finance and, ideally, management. Former graduates have held positions
such as deputy comptroller; regional finance officer; audit client manager; finance
manager operating company support and refinery accounting manager.
Firsthand experience has
enhanced my decisionmaking and analytical skills.
My interaction with all levels
of finance and operational
personnel has been a great
way to learn the business and
build ongoing relationships.
—Luis, California Polytechnic
State University
A great place to live and work
Our corporate headquarters is in San Ramon, California, situated in the San
Francisco Bay Area. This location offers you the bustle of a large cosmopolitan
city with many sporting and cultural events and easy access to breathtaking
seacoast, mountains and valleys. You can enjoy sailing on the bay, skiing in the
Sierras, or hiking and camping in unspoiled countryside. During the workweek,
you can take advantage of the campus-like setting and the extensive amenities
provided by Chevron, including health and fitness facilities.
Spend a summer with Chevron
If you have yet to graduate and would like to take a closer look at Chevron,
we also sponsor a summer internship program. As an intern, you’ll have the
opportunity to learn more about Chevron’s finance function, as well as our
people and our culture.

Development Program, schedule an interview with our
