ALT 5
PORT BEACONING
ALT posts are used as aids to navigation in and around ports and
harbours. Not only do they support
a lantern for night time beaconing,
they also act as a day mark.
The posts are built from stainless or
in hot dip galvanized steel painted in
accordance with IALA recommendations. The final result is a very strong,
weather resistant structure that can
be tailored to the customer’s requirements.
The ALT 5 post is normally used in
conjunction with the main beacons
of a port that provide ranges up to
7NM. However, they are also commonly used for beacons with lower
nominal ranges but where the
daytime visibility or a certain focal plane needs to be guaranteed.
