*AFFIRMATION OF FAITH The Apostle’s Creed (Unison)
I believe in God, the Father Almighty, maker of Heaven and earth;
and in Jesus Christ, His only Son our Lord, Who was conceived by
the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius
Pilate, was crucified, dead and buried; the third day He rose from
the dead; He ascended into Heaven, and sitteth at the right hand of
God, the Father almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the
quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic
Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the
resurrection of the body and the life everlasting. Amen.

SCRIPTURE
John 14:1-14
Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me.
My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told
you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you
also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going.
Thomas said to him, “Lord, we don’t know where you are going, so how can
we know the way?” Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life.
No one comes to the Father except through me. If you really know me, you
will know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen
him.” Philip said, “Lord, show us the Father and that will be enough for us.”
Jesus answered: “Don’t you know me, Philip, even after I have been among
you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How
can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? Don’t you believe that I am in the Father,
and that the Father is in me? The words I say to you I do not speak on my
own authority. Rather, it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his work.
Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; or at
least believe on the evidence of the works themselves. Very truly I tell you,
whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will
do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. And I
will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in
the Son. You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.
(Leader). . . The word of God for the people of God.
(People). . . Thanks be to God.

HOPE CHILDREN’S HOME
A representative will tell us more about Hope Children’s Home during the
Mission Moment at the 8:30 and 10:00 AM Worship Services on May 14.
More information will be available on the table in the Narthex.
Founded in 1968, Hope Children’s Home has rescued nearly 5,000 children
between the ages of infant to 18 years of age. Most of these children have
been discarded, abused, unwanted, or orphaned although some of the
children have simply come out of a situation where a parent just needed
help. The purpose at Hope Children’s Home is to share Christ with the
children and mold them into Biblically and Academically educated members
of society.
The home is located in northwest Tampa, Florida on 55 beautifully wooded
acres of land. The campus consists of dormitories for the boys and girls that
can house a total of 80 children as well as beautiful 4,000 sq. ft. cottages that
care for the younger children, allowing siblings to live together. The children
live in a family atmosphere with house parents who are with them twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week to give guidance and encouragement. READ MORE HERE: www.roserchurch.com/mission-of-the-month

Mike Slaughter is lead pastor and Chief Dreamer of Ginghamsburg Church where he has
served for 36 years. He is a catalyst for change in the worldwide church. Ginghamsburg has grown
from just 90 people in worship to a thriving mission center where thousands of people serve Jesus.
His dynamic teaching, heart for the lost and innovative approach to ministry
has led Ginghamsburg Church to outgrow all paradigms for a church in a
cornfield. Mike’s call to afflict the comfortable and comfort the afflicted will
challenge attendees to wrestle with God and their God-destinies.
In 2005 and 2006, Ginghamsburg was named as one of the top 50
churches in the U.S. by The Church Report magazine. In 2007, The Church
Report listed Mike as one of the 50 most influential Christians in America.
As a mentor, Mike travels globally to speak and uses his “gift of irritation” to
equip ministry leaders to minimize brick and maximize mission so that they
may fully deploy the mission of Jesus into the world. He is also the author
of multiple books including The Passionate Church: Ignite Your Church and
Change the World (Abingdon Press) and many more.

CLASSES PLANNED for those who wish
to become STEPHEN
MINISTERS
We are determining the best schedule for our next Stephen Ministry course at Roser,
likely to be offered next winter approximately JANUARY-MARCH 2018. There is
interest from several potential students at this time. Once we have a definite group
of students lined up, we will be able to determine the best day of the week for classes
to be offered. Those who are interested in taking Stephen Ministry classes and
becoming Stephen Ministers, please call the church office at 941-778-0414 or contact
Betsy Grundy. If you or someone you know would like to have a Stephen Minister,
please call the church office or contact JoAnne Moyer.
Stephen Ministry is the one-to-one lay caring ministry that takes place in
congregations that use the Stephen Series system. Stephen Ministry congregations
equip and empower lay caregivers—called Stephen Ministers—to provide highquality, confidential, Christ-centered care to people who are hurting, by carefully and calmly listening, providing
perspective, maintaining total confidentiality and privacy, and helping the Care Receiver walk through difficult times.
Over 50 hours of initial training takes place in basic counseling and ministry, and students actively participate in
their own Christian growth and effective sharing with others. The training takes place before Stephen Ministers are
commissioned and assigned to their first Care Receivers. Continuing education takes place during the months after
commissioning.
