Seven Steps to Ignite Your Entrepreneurial Fire
We all have come up with great ideas and have dreams of success. “If only I could get
my idea out there, I know it will fly.” But then something happens. We get distracted
with life, other things become more important, or we end up believing we can’t do it and
give up the whole idea. The chewing gum lost it’s flavor. The excitement is gone.
Are you self-sabotaging yourself out of success?
Don’t stay stuck in the muck of misery.
What is holding you back from being the success you always dreamed of becoming?
There are lots of reasons why people never start their own business, but what about the
reasons you should. Did you ever really consider how rewarding it would be, rather
than how difficult?
I bet we have a lot in common. I loved receiving a paycheck every other week. I knew
my job well and it was easy. Being with colleagues made the day go faster. And the
best reason ever: I was comfortable being in my comfort zone.
Now this may be where we part paths. I left that world because I didn’t get paid
enough. I got tired of hearing the company complain that it was a bad year and nobody
was getting a raise. I was getting bored and I wasn’t going to stick around a company
and watch colleagues leave before me as they left to pursue their dreams. I realized
there was no longer true security within the company didn’t want to fall prey to a pink
slip. I reached a point where I wanted to be responsible for my own destiny. I was tired
of blaming others for my dissatisfaction.
Sounds like a happy ending story right…? Wrong! My husband was downsized after
35 years in corporate America and we virtually lost everything except our house. I didn’t
have a car for six years. I could have easily rolled up into a fetal position and hide
under the covers. Well I did for a little bit, but we scraped until we both picked
ourselves up from our bootstraps to turn our situation around.
However, making this transition didn’t come without it’s struggles. Hitting lows in my
career was part of realizing more about my character that I never knew before. When I
was employed, I wasn't challenged to tap into my inner strengths. I was driven to
succeed because I didn’t want to ever experience that feeling again.
So now we are both entrepreneurs in completely different businesses. We didn’t have
any backing from anybody. Banks wouldn’t lend us money either. We went knocking on
doors for people to speak with us and allow us opportunities to serve their clientele.
Below is a template of the seven most common reasons people do not pursue their
dreams. Replace the negativity with positive thoughts.
