E.0 Scope
This appendix provides mappings of RDA data elements used to describe an entity associated with a resource to
metadata schemes for presenting or encoding access point and authority data. The appendix includes:
guidelines on the presentation of data derived from AACR2 rules and examples (see E.1)
a mapping of the variable fields and subfields defined in the MARC 21 format for authority data to
the corresponding elements in RDA (see E.2).

E.1.2.1 General
The instructions at E.1.2.2 – E.1.2.5 reflect the punctuation for access points derived from AACR2 rules and
examples. These instructions cover the punctuation that precedes or encloses additions to names and titles
in access points representing persons, corporate bodies, and works.
Punctuation that is internal to an element is specified in the instructions addressing that element.
E.1.2.2 Access Points Representing Persons
Precede a title of nobility by a comma and a space.
Precede the term Saint by a comma and a space.
Enclose the term Spirit in parentheses.
Precede a title of royalty or religious rank, or a term of address for a person of religious vocation, or other
term indicative of rank, honour, or office by a comma and a space.
Precede a date or range of dates by a comma and a space.
Separate a date of birth and a date of death by a hyphen. If a date of birth is not followed by a date of death,
