TIME

Martin Luther King Jr. was born on January 15, 1929 in Atlanta,
Georgia.
II.
In 1935, Martin was told that he could not play with his friends
because they were white and he was black.
III.
In 1947, Dr. King was ordained a minister.
IV.
In 1948, he graduated from Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia.
V.
In 1953, Martin Luther King Jr. married Coretta Scott in Boston,
Mass.
VI.
Martin became pastor of Dexter Avenue Baptist church in
Montgomery, Alabama in 1954.
VII. 1955-1956, Martin Luther king led a boycott of the busses in
Montgomery, Alabama.
VIII. Martin led a march in Washington on August 28 th
steps of the Lincoln Memorial.
IX.
December 10, 1964, Martin Luther King Jr. was
awarded the Nobel Peace Prize which was a great
honor. Dr. King is the youngest person to be awarded
the Nobel Peace Prize or Peace at age 35.
X.
Martin was assassinated in 1968 at the Lorraine
Motel in Memphis, Tennessee.
1983-the third Monday in January was declared an
annual federal holiday by the United states
